Not sure if this is actually your problem but, in general, integrated graphics cards will either not work at all or suck worse than a black hole.
-
try the 61.77 drivers
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html)
if this doesnt fix it then perhaps getting the Nforce 4.27 international chipset drivers will .
-
well the card is good, its the fact its running off of a 128 MB RAM running at 133 Mhz and XP is using the 256 MB RAM running at 133 Mhz (norm 233 Mhz)
BTW my other computer is has a nVidia GeForce FX 5200 and it is running w/ the 81.98 drivers and ran AH w/ no prob, this card is newer so idk if its the drivers
-
ok what you have is onboard gf 4 gpu its also using part of this
Memory: 256MB RAM
so its either using 64mb's or 128 mb's which comes from your 256 stick .
so as example your now running on 128mb's of ram for windows XP .
you have a huge bottle neck in this pc . you really need more ram thats for shure . (i would add at least a 512mb stick )
now the GF4 gpu is actually a DirectX 8 processing unit thats why the older 61.77 drivers work the best on it .
your other machine with the GF 5200 is a DirectX 9 processing unit and is more compatable with other drivers.
-
i think i found out my problem, bout 2 days ago i went on2 the MS webpage, and i tried to download DX 9c, but i had to go thru a validation process, and it seen im not using a.... um.... "valid" copy of XP, its been stoping me from using any DX compatable game cept for freelancer for some reason.... so im gonna do a system restore and see if it will work then
-
ok now i kno that doesnt work...
-
Why go to microsft to download. DX 9c is available from a lot of sites..
http://www.download.com/Microsoft-DirectX-Drivers-Redistributable/3640-2121_4-10305889.html
Click download button and save it to your hard drive.
Dog out.
-
i dont think thats the problem , notice the dx version

I think its an onboard gpu which has onboard memory in addition to the main memory, which would mean xp runs on 256mb still, otherwise the memory that is used by the graphic chip is usually not listed in the windows memory, and that would make the 256MB pretty strange. Can still be, but then the system has 384 MB of memory.
Can you tell us what brand/model your motherboard is?
Actually that is the bare min required by ah to run, it might be you run out of memory. Try to put the pagefile size higher, and set AH to the absolute minimum settings in resolution and quality, otherwise it will run out of memory. Also i can only second ro's advice that you need more memory to run it smoothly.
-
Besides the lack of ram you need to run the 61.77 video drivers the one your running now is for newer cards
-
your correct Schutt ,,, he has 256 availiable for windows . and theres an additional amount of ram that the gpu is using . (64 or 128 stick hiding in there id guess)
its still pritty low memory wise for gaming .
-
Schutt, my motherboard is a Biostar M7N CG 400
it is either XP hiding DX or DX has gone belly up on me, i have Ghost Recon on my comp, it worked then i tried playing it and i get the same popup as AH, and i installed another game, and it says...
"This program requires Direct X 9 levle driver. Openwindow failed."
then i get "the popup"
I kno NHawk, i paid for 1 copy of XP alredy, i did my part to support MS :t .... **cough cough** :D
But im gonna try Wardog's Link and see if that works, if not my friend has a... um... copy.... yeh copy... :t... of Direct X
-
ok ill try the 61.77 drivers first, the download isnt as big (12MB - 32MB) as DX9c and i hate waiting
-
well problem fixed, i downloaded the 61.77 drivers and it works, the drivers that were on the comp were older than the 61.77, they didnt actually support DX9, only 8.1 lol
thnx 4 everything, guess i wont have to do anymore..... well... n/m... lol
-
Just got off of AH, played perfectly fine, FPS stayed round 25, considering AH only has 80-100 Mb of ram to play w/
