Title: Later Model P40s?
Post by: Spatula on September 19, 2006, 06:51:56 PM
How about beefing up the P40 range a little?

What about the Merlin powered P40-F?

Or the late model allison model P40-N

How about the slightly less powerfull, lesser gunned, but fastest P40, the P40-N
http://www.p40warhawk.com/Variants/P-40N.htm

I think all the above models had a slightly longer fuselage than the B or E models, some with or without a little dorsal fin. The Merlin F model didnt have the carburettor snout on the top of the nose either. But mostly its the same kite as we have just with slightly better performance.

If ya dont ask, you may never get. Besides, HTC could introduce these models quite easily by basing them on the existing P40 models without alteration (i think there were some F models which didnt have the fuselage extended) but just alter the performance parameters slightly. Should be one of the easier to add models.

I'm hoping when they remodel P-40B and E, they add an F and N. Would be double nice since many of the surviving P-40s (not to mention a couple of the P-40E skins we have) are actually P-40Ns.

P-40K

Main external differences are changes to the tail surfaces (longer on the F and N, fillet added to the K), cut down behind the cockpit on the N, and the changes in radiator shape.

P-47N, 109K, 109G14, SpitIIIV, SpitXVI, all last fall.

Right now theyre focusing on A/C they need for CT to be finished, so unless we can convince them to use the P-40 as an advanced trainer, I think we're gonna have to wait.
