Title: Kalifornia has left the building
Post by: lukster on September 20, 2006, 06:04:34 PM
This is easy to fix, no more cars sold to Kalifornia.

Calif. sues carmakers over global warming

I'm hoping the anti-religion ACLU will jump on this one. These fundamentalist wackos have gone off the deep end and are now using the government to push their religion on others.

The only good thing I can say for Lockyer is that he's not as bad as Perata.  Buncha assclowns.

I guess they'll have to prove that co2 is responsible for global warming. Of course any Kalifornia court will swallow that as a given. Can a state be fined for pressing a frivolous suit?

Actually, lukster brings up a great idea.  One which I had for Microsoft being ****ed out of europe.  (At the time, Microsoft was being fined for not giving their code to other corporations so that the other companies could write Windows programs better).

I think a big ole' shove it up your ass, and then refuse to sell any cars or car parts in california would do them well.  Shut down any plants in CA as well.

We could seclude CA and pick up all the states of mexico...

I think a lot of american entrepeneurs would go to mexico because of the opportunity no one has taken yet.

Besides an occasional source, proper spelling and capital letters beginning sentences might help your argument.

According to....?

According to the scientists who actually study volcanoes, including the United States Geological Survey, all the volcanoes in the world put out far less than 1% of the greenhouse gasses man emits, and a large fraction of those are due to transport.

The globe has warmed some 0.8 degs in the last 100 years. It is now belived that thanks to lively volcanic activity in that period, that figure isn't higher.
Volcanic eruptions COOL, not warm.
A very fine example is an eruption lasting from 1783 to 1786, cooling the whole of Europe.

And you can't stop them anyway.....

One thing to understand about California Vulcan, is no one understands California.  Sort of like a woman.  Attractive, but bewildering.

We'll keep our $50B in net federal revenue too.  All those freeloading states (mostly southern or red states) will have to pay their share for once.
I doubt the nation would do very well with 1/7th of its economic output missing.

Too late to secede I think. You've already been conquered by Mexico. Officially leaving the US will be just a formality.

You should work for Ford, I'm sure they would jump at the chance to pull out of their biggest and most lucrative market.
funny thing is, ALL the major car players have set up a collaboration right here in Sacramento  to investigate using Hydrogen energy systems to power their future products.
We should just tell them to forget that to and go away and leave us all alone....

Forgot to mention the Microsft thing too, please study the issues that were at the forefront of this case and you will see that it had zip all to do with "writing microsoft programs better"
Incidentlly, this issue was first raised by the feds.
Have a great day

Most states will run out of the tobaco lawsuit and penalty tax soon...

A new evil needs to be found to supply the coffers...  this is just the latest...

Fast food is in the running too...

They are scared of the booze industry...well... not so much them but the booze consumers.

It is getting hard to find a group big enough to make it worth while to extort but not so big that they fight back.

it is a constant strugle for the socialists and women democrats.

I saw that episode on Discovery Ch, volcanic gas turns into tiny "mirrors" of sulfuric acid to reflect the suns goodness back into space.

Mt St Helen going off in the 80's had lasting effects for years and years, something like the equal of 15 years vehicle emissions exploded in minutes.

Based in the ice tapping's at the pole, its just a fact that this planet recycles itself.. we're an arrogant bunch thinking we're anything but temporary guests IMO.

It certainly wouldnt hurt my feelings if I never had to have another layover in LA.  Be a great income booster for the southwestern states too, if planes had to skip over Cali.  I could route all my flights through Houston or Phoenix and never have to see LAX again.

Can we start a petition?  :)

It's not frivolous. Carmakers sued state of CA over latest emission law. CA is returning the favor. It's more of a counter strike.

I was glad to see CARB get sued over that last round.  Did you read it?  It was stupid and arrogant.

Here's my question:  If all those cars passed California's most-stringent-in-the-world emissions certification and testing procedures, then how can the state have a beef?  Lockyer is a retard looking for pre-election publicity.

Funk how dare you use common sense here.  If California's emission standards (the toughest in the US) are contributing to global warming then California would be liable, not the auto makers.  California cannot sue itself and make money.

But funked.....There's no money in that.  Think of the lawyers.  Think of their fees.  Think of that new Lexus SUV they want to get their wives for their upcoming anneversary.  Think of their increase in housepayment as that variable rate mortgage they took out on their overpriced home in malibu doesn't seem like such a good idea anymore.  Think of little tommy and jamie, they might have to go to :::GASP:::: public school.

Oh the humanity!

You know, there's one thing that makes this whole discussion a moot point...The way prices are rising for fuel, in 5yrs. nobody in the continental U.S. will even be able to start and warm up their petroleum-powered vehicle, much less drive anywhere.
