Hmm...What can you possibly say to this? I also found it interesting that Chavez is now speaking Arabic huh....
-
If we keep electing Republicrats, he's 100% correct.
-
That suks
-
Every dictator that barks loud like a frightened dog dies an early death. :aok
-
The most unfortunate part of this speech is we have people that live here in America that nod their head in agreement with dictator...but then again we had people living the the US that agreed with Hitler in 1938 as well...so it's not surprising. Probably an effect of the "Me" generation.
-
It's very entertaining listening to the speechs from dictators who
complain about the U.N. being unfair. These same dictators who
would not afford the same privilege to their own people, yet demand
fair treatment at the U.N. Oh the irony.

There's something weird about Hugo Chavez...
Chavez is a leftist yet he did the Sign Of The Cross (A Catholic tradition when starting a prayer) when he was about to start his speech.
-
He did the sign of the cross for humor, because he was saying Bush was the Devil and the podium smelled of sulfur.
-
What makes him a dictator?
He has been repeatedly elected in elections more fair then any us election. He doenst lock up the elitist racists that oppose him, he just ignores them. Hes more of an ignorist.
Oh ya, he survived a US sponsored attempt to destory democracy in his country, he has oil and he knows the republicans are his enemies and makes no bones about it.

His recent announcement to push through a law to name him president for life during his next election term.
So, technically, he's not a dictator yet. However, he has announced his intention to become one.

No, he was addressing the issue of the US NOT wanting to get involved with Germany. They declared on the US. Hell Hitler had a portrait of Henry Ford behind his desk. Many families in the US were split in the decision to have some go across the Atlantic and fight as Germans.

And or Democrats, both parties have a long legacy of failure, as this recent poll points out.
25% approved of the way Congress was handling its job
77% said they did not believe current members deserved re-election
73 % said Congress was more interested in serving special interest groups than in meeting the needs of their districts.
Yet these bums, hacks, and paid for robots will get re-elected again and again because they have all the $$.
I seriously cant fathom how anyone has a use for either party, they BOTH have collectively put this country in the toilet.

You mean the referendum he's promised to hold in 2010 on whether to remove the presidential 2 term limit or not? Dodgy to my mind certainly, but a referendum hardly seems dictatorial: and even if he wins, he still has to win the presidential elections every 6 years... he'd be just like Tony Blair for example. Well except unlike Blair, he still has a fixed term in office after each election.

You go to prison if you speak out against him in Venezuela. I think that's one attribute of a dictator.

If/when the "US Empire" falls I hope it's with a bang and not a whimper.

when the US "empire "falls" all democracy will be dead across the globe and the world will see pain like it has never seen before.
And I guarantee it :D

Exactly Lukster.:aok We can however speak out here in America.
Isn't Citgo gasoline a product of Venezuela? Since we can't live without Middle East oil maybe we can at least live without petro products from Venezuela.
-
Besides Venezuela, the US is about the only other country that can refine his crappy oil.

Correct, Citgo is Venezuelan owned and operated. I'll avoid any trips to it, from here on out.
I hit Speedway's here in Mich.

So... the "Me Generation" has something in common with the "Greatest Generation"?

By no means have I ever said that speaking arabic correllates someone into being a terrorist Frenchy...I am learning Arabic this semester at school...Am I a terrorist? No...
But when a madman who's greatest ally is arguably the # 1 state sponsor of terrorism, and he tell's the world that the US Empire will fall in his native language, and then concludes with "God willing", in Arabic sure raises some questions...I think his rhetoric was a direct threat, and he is showing us where his allegiance is, and quit possibly how "america will fall"....

Ya know, one of the funny things about Chavez was he offered Bush $50 barrels of oil and gauranteed to him that he would never raise it.
This was refused as he wanted to keep the petrodollars instead of sending them back, As that's what Saudi Arabia does now, it's sending billions in petrodollars back, thus funding all the things that are going on right now.
I'll be waiting to see what happens when OPEC formally recognizes that Chavez has more oil than the Saudis, ( According to the US Dept of Energy- he has) if this occurs, then the Saudis will collapse as oil prices will plummet, much the same scenario if the Iraqi oil ever gets to the market in large numbers, it will drive down prices, OPEC and the Saudis will collapse and end up in the creek without the old paddle.
goodbye to the petrodollars, goodbye to the tax cuts and so forth.
I think the official postion will be that "We need to enhance Iraq's relationship with OPEC"
Interesting times ahead fo all of us.

'America' is an idea. Pretty simple one at that.
Freedom.
US system of government involves so many checks and balances that to actually screw it up permanently is very hard to do.
In fact, it's tough for the government to actually *do* anything long term.
That's a *good* thing.
Lotta rabid dogs out there in other countries that don't like the whole idea of 'America' .. I've read 'America will fall' or words to that effect by bigger an better for *CENTURIES* ..
..'America' is still here.
Nobody on this planet has the drive, organization, resources, and tech to do more than piss us off.
That would be a 'bad' thing .. as has been illustrated time and again.
'America' is not perfect .. it involves *people* .. any system with people in it is gonna make mistakes.. but .. it's better than anywhere else that I know of.
