Title: Phobias
Post by: Gunthr on September 21, 2006, 09:55:50 AM
The macho thread reminded me of my brother's son-in-law who is a genuine honest to God  Metrosexual, although my neice loves him very much and he is very good to her.   He isn't gay, but just a bit feminine.  Besides being a very fussy dresser and keeping longish fingernails with clear lacquer on them, he has the strangest phobia that I've ever heard of:

meat on the bone.

He cannot be in the vicinity of anyplace where there might be any meat on the bone, i.e. roasted turkey, BBQ ribs, chicken, bone-in beef roasts,  or any fish that hasn't been fileted.  If he is exposed to meat on the bone he has to leave immediately or he will swoon and faint.

His other little problem is that he has to line up all the chairs around the table in a perfectly straight line, and keep them that way at all times when people arent sitting in them.  He checks them throughout the day if he isn't at work,  and he will get up in the middle of the night to make sure they are still straight.

My brother said he was up front about these things when he proposed to marry my niece.  The poor guy said he just couldn't help it.  He said "Thats just the way I am.  I don't like it, but I can't help it."   The family accepted him, although they don't bother asking him to go deer hunting  :)

Afraid of meat on the bone? How does he live with himself knowing that he is meat on bones? Maybe you shouldn't point that out to him. ;)

I have a cousin like that very effiminate but not gay.  been married along time and totally dedicated to his family.  if you met him you would think he missed his calling.  anyways as kids all us cousins we'd go fishing,  if he caught a fish you had to take it off the hook for him and he kept his fish separate, he wouldn't eat the ones he caught.  he wouldn't clean them either he would become violently ill.  go figure.

That's some serious obsessive complusive behavior Gunthr..

all things considered though... people could have alot bigger issues than meat on the bone & chair arrangement. there's definately people out there alot crazier.

That's funny, I was listening to "Bob & Tom" the other day and they had comedian Jimmy Pardo on. He was saying that he can't be indoors when meat is cooking. The smell and thought of it makes him instantly sick to the stomach. Notice I said indoors, at outdoor BBQs he's as right as rain.

When I was young I had to have my food separated on the plate and not touching each other. This included neopolitan ice cream (three flavors in one carton). I needed a separate bowl and spoon for each. I outgrew it.

I still can't stand my food touching, and I can't eat a bite of one thing and then take a bite of something else. I have to eat food one at a time lol.

oh, and I hate spiders. If I see if a spider, I have to do a room check for other spiders...:noid

I'm the same way with keys. I never thought of it as an obsessive compulsive thing though.

More of a not having to fumble through keys in the dark thing.

I also have them notched so i can feel which keys are which.

Yeah okay, im OCD
