Title: Nate, any chance of this F4U scheme?
Post by: whels on August 15, 2001, 08:09:00 AM
how about doing the -1  or change the 1d over to Boyington's LuluBelle. 1d would be closer since it was a 1a with bubble canopy. http://www.acepilots.com/lulubelle3.jpg (http://www.acepilots.com/lulubelle3.jpg)

Whels, I was digging around on that site and looking for more pictures but I can't even find the one you posted. Where are they and are there more.

LOL guys:

We've seen screenshots.  I kinda doubt they are going to throw away the artwork they already put all that effort into.

Also, you guys may want to look at the canopy of the F4U-1.  It is the early birdcage Corsair.  The one that Whels posted is an F4U-1A with the blown canopy, similar to the one on the -1D.

Also, just a bit of historical info, the -1A in the profile is not really a Hog that Boyington flew in combat.  It was just doctored up for press reasons.  All of the Hogs that the 214 used did NOT have kill markings, even the ones that Boyington flew.  Sorry for the nitpick.   :)
