Title: Forget massive multiplayer
Post by: Angry Samoan on September 23, 2006, 09:01:53 PM
The massive multiplayer attraction is what brought me here.

Some forget when they flew a horde to watch how the better sticks get there kills.

Horde breeds new sticks.

:D

Gives some new players somewere to run for cover.

Angry, Good ole days are just that, in the past...LOL

But the hordes are still around, just fewer players to combat them  :(

Hmmm,

HiTech mentioned a belief that certain events (can't remember the exact term he used) were going to bring a wave of new players.

Works for me, but as identified in another thread, it would be even betterer if some of those folks were in Europe, Japan, Australia etc.

Angry, i think massive multiplayer starts with 5 servers having 1000 people each... and with the Early War / Mid War / Late Ware arena split AH2 in my eyes has far more to offer than it had before, so it will attract more players in the long run which will lead to a bigger multiplayer environment. Judge a change by its total impact and not by the view some of the current players give.

Having more attractive and more diverse options pulls more players and more that stay longer, gives more revenue to work with and give some possibilities for more advertisement.

Fair enough - went to check if it was Pyro, couldn't find the thread.

Edit - found it, Pyro's first post in the "New Format Part 2" thread:  "a couple of things in the pipeline that we believe will provide an influx of players." Pretty close, all in all, though apologies for attributing the comment to yourself instead of to Pyro.

IIRC, it was set at 150 and then later on expanded to 200.
