I was watching... well, i forget what movie, but I discovered something that disturbs me. Arnold Schwarzaneiger's voice relaxes me. I think its the german/austrian accent, because I have noticed the feeling before when hearing a similar accent. But for some reason, it feels like home. Is something wrong with me?
-
yes. definately.
i should probably read why you were asking though...just to be sure.
-
:Olol. Thought so. But really, for some strange reason I find the German/Austrian accent makes me feel like home. No idea why, I have never even been to europe...  :huh

Reynolds, large austrian men do comfort some men. And we're not passing judgement here, but we think that there's nothing wrong with it.
-
Do you get the same feeling when listening to Herr Flick?

Ummm .. yeah ... some things you just shouldn't say out loud, much less post on the internet.:O

NOT LIKE THAT! Not in a gay way, just kinda like... I dont know... like if you were to leave your home for a very long time, and you heard an old friend's voice from back where you used to live. Kinda like home. And its not jsut him. I had a friend stay with us who was from Germany, and the same thing. Doesnt matter if they are male or female, its the accent... no idea why... And Saintaw, GREAT commercial!

Reynolds, you need to check that ALL of your PM boxes are empty, not just the inbox, mmkay?

Reynolds, a suggestion:
Go write a commercially successful and critically acclaimed non-fiction book about some murders that took place in the Mid-West in the late 50s. After that, become a regular at Studio 54 and envelope yourself in your own self-indulgent, self-loathing quagmire... After your death, become a model for Dockers or Gap, or whatnot.

Or, he could just run for a political office!

If he did, the ghost of Andy Warhol might be relucant to give him the reach-around.

Apparently there's more than a few million Kalifornians that feel the same.

WOW. It appears you cannot get over the fact that I am not gay. How sad for you.

No, I cannot get over the fact that I like to derive humor from any and every source available. You supplied the source, I derived.

Unfortunately not everyone is joking. surely there are more than a few who didnt read all of this, they only read part and immediatly formed an oppinion, and have their minds so far in the gutter, that they cannot see a clean way to interperet things.
-
ROFL, you just saved my day. :rofl
I myself must confess that I am extremely comforted with a voice with German accent, but it must be a FEMALE voice :D
I am not referring to the velvety voice of Marlene Dietrich, but of my wife, who is German.
Was going to post a picture, but found none on the net.
Remember the movie "To be or not to be" with Mel Brooks?
Charles Durning was absolutely unforgettable as the Nazi officer,-
"Ve vill be veiting for you"
Then there is always Gert Froebe ;) See this movie:

IN a way, I see your point. Arnold's voice can be soothing, if you know that you're about to spend 2+ hours watching him kick bellybutton and blow **** up. Of course, you may be about to watch Kindergarten Cop or The Last Action Hero, so it may also be a curse.
-
Reynolds, Junge, komm' bald wieder, bald wieder nach Haus'! Junge, fahr' nie wieder, nie wieder hinaus! ;)

Interesting thread. On one hand, there is association of voice with impressive physical demeanor. Arnold is the consummate big daddy solve all the world's problems go to guy.
No wonder you find that impressive. Most people do. Robert Shaw had a similar effect.
On the other hand, there is hearing an appealing voice without having any idea what the speaker looks like. I'm a big fan of several female voices on Public Radio. They could talk to me all day long. I don't think I want to know what they look like; might spoil the mesmerizing effect of their voices.
Perhaps we all want a father figure, a mother figure, and an erotic figure -- and those can be intriguing separate threads themselves.
-
Its not one of those three, but rather an old friend kind of feeling. And I think he looks like a retard, so its only the voice.

I find my Rottweilers snoring to be relaxing. Not the same as a large Austrian man yelling " get to the chopper!!", but still relaxing.
-
Yeah, german shepherds are my favorite dogs, followed by border collies. Never was too fond of rottweilers though, they seem a bit too mean.

Ah, Robert Shaw...now there's a man's man.

Most are good natured. Both of mine have had great dispositions and great with people. Better safe than sorry though with large dogs.:D
-
Yeah, ive met quite a few great, calm even just plain silly rottweilers, but they still look too damned scary.

The obvious urge you have to deny it speaks volumes. Perhaps some self-examination is a good idea. Your post's title, after all, indicates you don't quite understand what's going on, and are wondering about it.
I once had a gay landlord who told me he never knew he was gay until he turned 40 and went for his first proctological exam. How old are you? :)
culero (hey, nowadays its OK!)

Where I grew up (Mexican border with Texas) its a slang term people use for the same purpose they use "***hole" when describing or addressing another person. Its also my nickname among my local crowd of fellow saltwater fishermen (for obvious reasons, I am an ***hole ;)) so when I started Air Warrior I used it for my handle.
I've since learned from Spanish-speakers in that game and this one from other regions of the world that it is used in a slang sense many places, but with different meanings.
A Spaniard I met told me its the word they use to describe folks who smuggle drugs by carrying them up their *** in condoms.
Several folks I know who are of Puerto Rican or Cuban background tell me its used to mean "diaper", or imply that the person being described is an adult who must wear diapers.
A Colombian and an Argentine I met in the game both told me it used to describe someone who likes to screw a lot (both in the hetero and homo sexual senses).
Bottom line, all I know for sure is what my friends here locally mean when they call me that, and I'm guilty :)
