Title: I have court in 2 hours
Post by: BlueJ1 on September 25, 2006, 11:26:26 AM
Have ot go to court in 2 hours for a speeding ticket. 58 in a 40.

Excuse: Was one of those days I just wanted to get the flock home after a long day at work.

Even with my recruiters help this is going to hurt my wallet. Lesson learned.

Tell the judge that you don't recognize his authority because the gilded flag in the courtroom is the flag of an admiralty court, so he has no jurisdiction over you.

Then begin citing common law and the Magna Carta as they pertain to the illegality of "speed limits".

How old are you?  Why do you have to appear in court?  Can't you just pay it?

My first speeding ticket I had a court date.  Went in with my father and saw the nice lady at the window.  Forked over $75 and went about my business.  Never saw the judge and was driving at the end of the day.

Now if the cop had clocked me only a mile earlier on that same road...I might not be driving even today :D

in this country, we dont seem to have police officers anymore.  we have bright yellow robots placed everywhere which take photographs of your car if you go past it over the speed limit and then send you a nice letter in the post issuing you with a fine and points to your license (more points = more expensive insurance and possible driving ban).

the robots have even developed on some roads into checking your speed over a long distance, taking an average speed and issuing a fine if you are over the limit.

photos of these robots are rare, but i managed to find a couple...

some people have taken it upon themselves to fight a guerilla war against the 'Gatso' as they are know...

you'll do fine blue, a small fine will be all ya gotta worry about i rekon.

furball, all ya gotta do is use the M5, no cameras for 200 miles :D

Ive heard of people passing the first check point, speeding to the next, and stopping for enough time to bring the average speed down......seems kinda pointless.

You talking about CCTV? Apparently we have the most CCTV cameras of any country, but that is down to our friends the IRA who thought it was  amusing to plant bombs in litter bins and car bombs in our city centres.

We are getting more and more traffic enforcement cameras, no excuse for the vast majority of them apart from making money.  The only areas they should have them are around things like public parks and schools.

Man....overpower a guard, shoot it out and escape in a Police car...listen to the chat on the radio and head towards the nearest Airport.  Ditch the car and by that time they should have the TV News Helicopter warmed up... Hijack it with the pilot and film crew.... make some outrageous demands, such as Free the Chicago 7 or Charlie Manson was Right Dudes it IS the SONG!!!!

Then head to Arubaa... they'll never find you!

I'm no fan of vandalism but that is awesome Furball, however, I hope no one complains if your taxes start jumping even more.  Burning those cameras is like burning a couple hundred or thousand pounds.

Got 3 parking tickets and no points on license. Came out to $110 dollars and the judge telling me to slow my arse down. Girl in front of me was doing 63 in a 45 and paid close to $200 dollars.

There was in article in the paper the other day regarding our lovely little yellow boxes  (they havent got me once yet!)

A guy got snapped speeding while trying to get somewhere quick (work or something)  already had his licence with points on.  was scared that he would be banned from driving.  lose his job not pay his mortgage get kicked out on the street  etc  ...

he goes to the camera middle of the night in a van and blows the crap out of the camera.  totally smashed it to pieces.  the hard drive for the camera is stored underground and he was caught on cctv doing it.  bummer....

last May, got stopped doing 78 in a 35.  (missed seeing the sign slowing down from 55)...

anyways, asked to see the calibration records on the radar gun and was told I could subpena them.  Then asked to see the serial number of the radar gun and the vehicle VIN number to be sure that they were the same on what I would be subpenaing.  Was told that I had no right to see those by the officer.  I argued, he refused.

Went to court, and subpenaed the audio tape.  Case was thrown out by a very mad judge  ( mad at the officer for allowing me to get off ).  I left, and have since slowed down somewhat.

they make millions off of these cameras, hence the resentment towards them.

government claim they are to improve road safety, when quite clearly where they are used is just to increase revenue from already ripped off motorists.

Good for the guerrillas!  For Cripe's sake, that would piss me off to have machines constantly monitoring my speed over long distances, etc.  How long have these Gatso's been operational?
Title: I have court in 2 hours
Post by: Blank on September 26, 2006, 02:59:41 AM
They been operational for years now,

there is meant to be one condition on placing a speed camera in that they are only meant to go at perseaved accident blackspots or sites of previous accidents.

they are not just allowed to wack them in anywhere.

to really confuse things on the M25 (a big circular motorway that rings london) there are "Variable speed limits" in that if its getting congested up ahead the speed limit is lowered behind to help stop more cars arriving so quickly and help to ease the congestion.

and you guessed it.. Speed cameras in every gantry overhead also linked to the variable speed limit!!

the worse cameras though are the portable units they erect on motorway roadworks, pretty tricky to spot sometimes one, sometimes 2.

Do they slow the traffic? well if you take the road i use to get to cornwall for a surf, I know the position of every camera so you just end up driving as fast as possible then braking for the camera then accelerating off again.

Plus I wonder how many people crash whilst emergency braking when confronted with a suprise camera popping up in front of them?

18mph over and only $110 ???!! what gives with that ??? In NC (back in 80's) it used to be  anything over 15mph over was automatic dangerous driving. I got caught twice but both JUST safe.

BlueJ - metinks your next insurance premium may be worse than the ticket ...

"Renew insurance Mr Sparks?"
"Yes please"
"Any tickets ??"
"errrrrr........."

"ah yessss ... thats and extra $200 please"

"Bend over sir ... this may hurt a little ...."

In UK it's those Averaging cameras that REALLY piss me off. Takes a digital of your number plate and stores it, takes another one of you X miles later and does the maths.  Now on the M25, M42, A-whatever it is to Manchester .....  So they have your number and what time you were there - what happens to all this new information about where you drive ?? Big Brother is watching you.

Storch,

Somehow you kissing Skuzzy's arse to get back on here and promising to act like a normal human being seems as no surprise to me.  What is the surprise is that you have not imploded into another round of mindless babbling and incoherent ramblings about how great you are and how Amway is the savior of the world....  time will tell though.

My bet is you're gone within 90 days.  You just can not keep that mouth of yours shut.

A couple of Months ago I passed an Oklahoma State Highway Patrol car going to work in the morning.... well over 95 in a 65 MPH zone... he lite me up, pulled me over.

I got to sit in his car and explaining to him about the only few free parking spots in downtown Tulsa.... Well he seen my Army Military Retiree Card as I handed him my Drivers Lic. He's written up the ticket and I politely ask if he could give a Vet a break and he looked at me and said... "This is why I'm just writting it up for just 15 MPH over and smiled.  $120.00 but it would have been a Hell of alot more and a Court date... plus he checked the no need to forward to Insurance Co if paid by above date...

Kewl... Ticket was in mail with check that afternoon.

(puts on Olde Fartz hat) ... Have you ever thought about how much safer it would be and how much more pleasant driving in general would be if we all obeyed speed limits and caution signs?

They aren't put there for meanness.

They're put there for the safety and good of the public, which is all of us.

Most the bad situations and accidents I see and read about are caused by people disobeying traffic regulations.  DUH!  Do you think there's a connection?

OK, it 'aint exactly 'country roads', but if you go to Phoenix AZ you can find out exactly what the locals think of speed cameras.
