Why do that when raptor is re-making his notorious Pearl Harbor terrain this November?!? It's a blast, i'd rather wait for his to come out. But that's just me.

cool, and that'll be the one i'll use when it comes out,

right now though, i'm just makin one for the helluvit, raptor's will of course be waaaayyyy better, but i'm just seeing if i can even make sumthing that resembles oahu island, after all the only other 2 "maps" i got suck....alot, maybe this one will be better i hope

one problem, no troops, so stick sum gv spawns in water for allies, real close to beachead, that way we can take LVT's to the mainland,

but can the LVT's with the howitzer, can that take out panzers? nvr tried, everybody had tigers, needless to say...i died

Nope, they can't. They fire 75 MM HE rounds, bounce right off of the frontal armor on all tanks.

Post by: Yoshimbo on September 27, 2006, 05:33:01 PM
dang, mabye u could put the spawn just on the beachead then, so we could use M8s, it'd be a tough one going headon against panzers, but acheivable, i believe

That's VERY un-realistic, and no fun either.

D-Day would be so unfun IMHO. If we cant control troops, its no fun. The danger wasnt getting tanks or planes there, it was getting the troops up the beach. Since we dont have troops, we dont have that problem

i agree, for a good, realistic, fun D-Day map, we need troops, and landing ships for the tanks, and sand for the beaches

i think GV fields should line coastlines, and airfields be based inland for a MA "style" map

so the allied vehicle bases should be all over the cost of where it was like omaha, utah, and the other 2 or 3?
cause this is what i want to know what u guys would like for a good map!

model a landing ship, put them on edge of terrain,  put an allied GV spawn point on it, then u can spawn in the Landing ship, and roll out on beach, kewl!:D

is that posible? do they even have a landing craft boat?

The LVTs are like landing craft, they are amphibious troop carryers and the other has a howitzer, boom!

also, bout maps, i've finished my version of pearl harbor, and lemme say this, C-R-A-Z-Y ack, had to drop the lethality to a 1/3 to be able to get in and fly around and live in the d3a

also i have completed a small and simple H2H FFA map, but for sum reason i can't get the airspawns to work, i will fix this, till then it's ready

also i have completed a small but IMO good H2H Teams map, this needs testing which i will do tonight, but it's lookin good

Title: Ideas for maps anyone?
Post by: Yoshimbo on October 04, 2006, 04:51:29 PM
unfortunetly no, atleast not right now

you see, i have no internet, and the map is on my desktop, the only way i can access the internet is by getting onto the school's wireless network, and unfortunatly the map is not on my laptop

BUT THERE IS A SOLUTION!

i will simply email myself the map AND the motd (pearl.h2h) file

there is a bug with the map, though it could be something on my end

what it is is this, when you switch to the knights(japan) you have to make sure to click on the TG yourself, for some reason you are not automatically moved there, if don't you'll spawn some where way out in the boondocks

the motd explains it

played in on a LAN a last night, owned my bro

he was in a a6m2, i was in a dauntless, lol

then i upped a f4f-4 and he just stopped playing, :lol

ACK is real bad for the poor japanese, i suggest you tune it down to .3333

ALSO!

two of the ports in pearl harbor don't wanna be bish right off bat, you gotta go into the "feilds" menu and cchange them to bish manually

ONE LAST THING!

the "map" has no map, i mean when you hit escape all you see are the airfields on the map, no land, so you gots ta make one yourself or better yet
go into teh terrain editor and have that make it, if it makes it successfully, plz plz, send it to me i need that bad

home internet =no

skool internet  = yes

pearl harbor map at home on desktop

i'll send the pearl harbor map to my laptop

them i come to skewl and and email it to whoever wants it

SO WHOEVER WANTS IT, PM ME!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------
now, things you should know about the map

1.)Bishops = America  knights = Japan

2.) when one switches from the bish to the knits
one must press "esc" (the button in the very top left part of your keyboard)

then one must look upon the map, which by the way, shows only the airfields and not the terrain:(  (i'll fix this soon) when one sees the icon for the CV, the only base the knights have, one must proceed to click upon it so that one switches to it, so that one may fly from it.

3.) Flack/AAA/AA/Ack/Ack-ack/ those things that go "poof" in the air
is very heavy, so, one must go into the arena settings, then into the enviroment settings, and set the leathality of the Auto Ack to 0.333 (0.5 works too, if .33 is too easy)

4.) i suggest 1.0 ammo levels or the zero will dominate, unless you know what your doing

5.) field A1 (bish) has an airspawn (10k) just North of the Harbor
CV12 (knits) has an airpsawn (10k) just South of the Harbor

6.) for reasons unknown, when you load the map, two of the Ports, i think ports 13 and 14 won't be bish, they will be rook, you must go into the "Fields" options and change them to bish
--------------------------------------------------------------------
i ahve tried to be somewhat accurate with my map, and though it is lacking detail
i have included:

roads- they suck a bit

both of those nice mountain ranges that are on the E and W sides of the island

a few famous airfields such as
Ewa and Wheeler
---------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE!
this map is nothing special so don't get yer hopes up, i can't wait for Raptors map of it, dude makes some good maps
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AGAIN!

PM ME WITH YOUR EMAIL IF YOU WANT ME TO SEND YOU THE MAP!

or if i ever get muh internet back(dam bellsouth bastages:furious) i will host it, then you can come in and you'll get it then

if i ever get muh internet back:furious 271 bucks my oscar

Title: Ideas for maps anyone?

Yoshimbo, you got this done WAY TOO FAST. You didn't pause to examine. First of all, if you go into "Settings>Fields Setup" you can assign bases to particular countries. Second of all, your having that bug because you did not assign A1 as a bishop base under zone 1, and you did not assign A2 (Or C2) as a knight base under Zone 2. Do that and the bug should be cleared up.

Once you've done that, send me the terrain files, not the .res file, and I will make a bitmap image for the clipboard.
Title: Ideas for maps anyone?
Post by: Yoshimbo on October 06, 2006, 04:37:52 PM
ah, but i did go into the 'fields setup' and it will say that the 2 ports are bish but when u play it, they are rook and u gotsta changer yourself

A1 = bish i knew bout dis one, and i made sure a1 did = bish

but i did NOT know about A2 having to = knit

i will correct this, ty for info

and u say you will make map too? tx much!

:D

be advised internet is still down, so i can only access it mon/wed/fri at nite when i'm in skool, also my thumbdrive is pissing me off

Not exactly some landing craft had armor platoons like the canadians in the first wave

canadians were the main wave in the north to make them think the main attack was up there!

Yoshimbo, if you have a router, or a personal network going, you can just upload the files to your laptop from your computer at home.

Just hook the two comps together using a CAT 5 cable and tranfer the files, usually you can upload 100.00 MB per Second using that technique.

Here is an easy way to do it:
Right-Click on "My Computer"
Go to: Properties
Go to: Network Identification (I'm on a win 2000, may not be correct)
Make sure your "Workgroup" is the same on both computers (Laptop and desktop).
If it isn't, change one of the two to match the other.
If you made changes you will need to restart your computer.

Now, open "My Network Places"
If it's an XP, there are sometimes "Shared" folders automatically placed inside the computer, if not, you will have to make one.

If you have to make one, start by opening "My Computer". Then open the "C:\" drive, usually labeled "Local Disk". Then, right click and go to "New" and click on "Folder" to add a new folder. Name the folder "Shared" and then click away from the folder to apply the name change.

Now, right-click on the folder and click on "Properties". Go to: Sharing (Once again, i'm on a Win 2000, it might be different) Now select "Share this folder".

Afterwards press "Apply" then "OK" and that should enable the folder to be shared on your network. Now, place all the terrain files inside that folder (Copy them, don't move them, to do this drag them in using the right mouse button, instead of the left.) Now using your laptop you should be able to open "My Network Places" and you should be able to see the folder named "Shared". If not, on the left click on "View Workgroup Computers". This opens a list of computers on your network, if your computer's name (The desktop, not the laptop) is mentioned, you know you have a network going.

Double-click on your computer's (Desktop, not laptop's) icon, it should ask for login information if you chose to have password security. Insert this and you should get to the list of shared folders, open the designated "Shared" folder and then copy (Drag it in using the right-mouse button, not left) all the files to the location of your choice on your laptop computer.

they will be uploaded...soon

i'm again in skewl and i'm moochin' off the wireless connection they have here

me being the fickle perfectionist i can be with certain things i'm trying to get the site just right

:D

Just please don't submit it for hosting before it's done. Rushing a project turns up LOTS of bugs.

A map of Los Angeles County, minus all the urban sprawl. Trying to capture actual cities and bombing Burbank would be a change.

lol, "Bombs over Burbank" i can see it now, lol

How about a "Wake Island" map?

or you know waht would be rly rly cool?
i'll tell you...

North Africa....1942

with skins, custom objects/airfields and all!

would prolly take a while, possibly a long while, but it would be freaking cool!

now if only we had more british tanks and what not to go with it:(

Yoshimbo, it's a huge 512 x 512 map. Nothing for 8-Player. And duh, don't feel bad, I thought of quitting my GatofH project a lot of times because I got bored with it.
