Whats a good way to get rid of insomia?
I guess stress is a big factor in it

best way is to get some sleep.

i find smokin some pot or a glass of wine helps, seriously.
biggest cause of insomnia is NOT doing enough with your day.
Satisfy the body and mind during the day and sleep comes easy.
dont get up till midday and dont do **** all for the rest and you wont sleep.
most i ever did was something like 68hours with no sleep. things got kinda wierd.

Insomnia usually is a symptom.
Find out what it is thats keeping you from falling asleep, then tackle that problem.
Dont take insomnia lightly... get some help if you need to.

I've had this for over 10 years now. Since I refuse to take pills, I do like batty, smoke some and a good wank helps too.

There's a lot of different causes, which you're in the best position to identify.
The best solution I know is to physically exhaust yourself to sleep, preferably doing something you enjoy enough to stay relatively enthusiastic about for the duration.

rise early
eat well
exercise hard and long - exhaust your body and you will sleep
Do Not smoke pot - you will end up not being able to sleep unless you toke before bed
Do Not drink alcohol before bed as even though it will make you sleepy at first, you will not sleep through the night as deep and sound as you should and will wake up less rested than you should as the temporary effects of alcohol wears off during the first couple hours of sleep interrupting your normal sleep cycle.

KO Chronic, or OG Kush with a tall boy chaser.
Although my wife wanting sex will usually put me right to sleep.

unisom can be awsome, just make sure to take it 9.5 hours PLUS before you have to be up the next day. serious.
sometimes I have to take 2, but the warning is if you take it and sleep say 6 hours, you may get up, but your brain will be mush. there's been a few nights where I did that and the whole next day I could not for the life of me remember even what movie I watched on DVD the night before. it really screwed with my short term memory.

I'm a chronic insomniac. Do what Eagler suggests above (diet and exercise) on a daily basis, and on the occasions that doesn't work, try a tylenol PM (knocks me out 2 hours after taking). Exercise several hours before you plan on going to sleep, not right before. Avoid eating for several hours before you plan on going to sleep.
Different strokes for different folks, but pot and alcohol are generally not suggested.

...the pot and alcohol are to stop you from going insane for the 8 hours you know you're still going to be up for.

but as i said above the herbal rems, DO enough with your day and satisfy the body and mind and sleep comes easy.

The easiest way to get to sleep is going to change from person to person.
I find that the harder I work, especially towards bed time, the harder it is for me to get to sleep.
But then again, I'm one of the lightest sleepers in the world. I wake up for everything and take a long time falling a sleep.

the less you sleep, the more you think, and you might get sick and die earlier. the better your sleeping patterns and routines, the less time you have to think, and you stay healthy longer.
remind me again why being insanely self aware and mentaly developed makes humans a good choice of spieces to be??

counting sheep works well for putting your mind at rest as does prayer or reading in bed

I got a "Yoga in bed" DVD from netflix a while back that helped too. Really relaxes your mind and body and only takes like 10-15 minutes.

Nature is smarter than politicians, Earth handed us a non physically addictive plant that grows everywhere... it doesn't get any more natural than that. It'll make you drowsy, hungry, relaxed and take the edge off any and all that pains you.. for about 30 minutes. You can try to overdose on weed, it'll just be expensive.
Drug companies have spent billions creating pills that mimic what MJ already does. Just like sleeping pills they have engineered, its not good to rely on.
I'll say this again, I was gung-ho cop.. I worked a narc unit, 'front lines' of the war on drugs... all that happy horseshe-it. I resisted even trying weed to help me sleep / numb my nerve damaged arm for over 7 years since my retirement. No way I was smoking that stuff, my friends laughed at me then, like I laugh at others today.
I started smoking weed about a year ago, best thing I've ever done. More sleep, much less pain, and its penalty free, meaning I don't wake up every morning craving the pills my Docs been feeding me.
It's not for everybody, and recreational use is an adult decision.. like drinking alcohol / smoking cigarettes, but unlike these two.. weed is not physically addictive, and 100% grown in mothers Earth's dirt womb.

I take drugs for mine. 2mg of Klonopin. However, it is very addicting and wouldn't recommend it for you unless you really need it.
Don't take Ambien. Ambien just suxs. Ambien warped my mind big time...I became very aggressive. There are some new sleep meds on the market now but they will be expensive.
Tylenol PM is the same as 100% of all the over the counter sleep aids- its basically benadryl. I would take the straight up benadryl over Tylenol PM because Tylenol has well documented devastating effects on your liver if taken regularly. Also, another point about over the counter sleep meds: they actually interfere with deep sleep- producing a crappy night of sleep.
One sleep aid that is often overlooked by Doc’s (unless he/she is good) is Trazodone. Trazodone is non-addictive and will knock your arse out. I took a tiny dose the first time and slept until 5 pm the next day. Trazodone was formulated to be an anti-depressant but it proved ineffective. It is still around because of its effectivness in treating insomnia. The bonuses with traz. are 1) it is cheap as dirt 2) it actually promotes stage III (or IV, can’t remember) sleep making for a very sound sleep.
Remeron is good too (I’ve heard). I haven’t tried it but it also an anti-depressant that produces significant sedation. Also promotes stage III or IV sleep.
If insomnia interferes with your life then seek help. The days of gulping down phenobarbital (barbiturates) like Marilyn Monroe are long gone.
Also, never ever self medicate.
