Nice work HTC!:aok
-
Dang, I was just working on that skin, too. :p
And if that's the updated F4U-1D, are we going to get a true F4U-1A?
-
Hope the cockpit guages, etc are bright enough to read especially the trim indicators.
Looks really cool. I may be sporting wood.
HONK!

Look pretty clear to me :)

Oh my god...... I love hog's.... maybe even more now if that's possible :D
-
I want it. I want it noooooow!
Although just to nitpick, the bomb arm switch panel on the right side of the cockpit dash is missing.
-
It actually looks much better. We got a bit overzealous with the .jpg compression. 120 kb for a 1280 wide screenshot doesn't convey really well. We'll get some new shots up there.
-
I've seen better looking frozen cabbage..
Jk.. nice work :aok

grats to the team, it looks really great, well done guys :)

:aok ,
now if NB will only approve of the new windscreen, so we can wing with each other in same type plane, heh

Yanno I just got back in the game from a looong break. I hadn't flown AH II at all. I had been toolin around in AH last month trying to decide to come and try it on my slow machine or not. I figure wth I would try it and see if I had playable FR or not and pow I do. I climb in my trusty HOG and it is my OLD trusty hog. I was like :o :o I figured it would have been updated.
This looks awesome and well worth the wait since beta to see refinished! WTFG guys! I am drooling to take her for a spin!

Oh PLEASE, please, please.
If the D is any indication a 1A would be amazing
SIK1
-
Man that looks good.:aok
-
And for those who say there's not enough difference, bull honkey.
The 1A would be faster than the 1D with at LEAST the same acceleration/climb--if not better--due to less drag and slightly less weight. 1A vs 1D would be rather like the difference between the FW-190A and F that we have now (one dedicated to air-to-air, the other leaning more towards air-to-ground).
Plus, it'd open up ALL those F4U-1A skins (Boyingtons planes, the Jolly Rogers, etc).

F4U-1 "Birdcage"
F4U-1A (water injection)
F4U-1D
F4U-1C
F4U-4
please. :aok

I was thinking that same thing as soon as i seen it:lol .
How long is this goin to take to come out???? R the goin to be updating one at a time or is htc goin to finish them and give them all to us at once???? And why didnt u do it look this the first time?
When is my hellcat goin to be done??? when im i goin to get my true f6f-3???
All the best planes come off of the carrier deck.
-
Dang. I just realized I'm gonna have to redo ALL my other Corsair skins.

if you dont mind id rather have new skins... :)
so would htc btw ;)
-
Oh don't worry, I'll do 'em. And HOPEFULLY I'll get a brand new, shiny 1A to play with on those Jolly Rogers Hogs.
-
Nice :)
Finally makin the cowl round an spendin a few polys where other things need to be round :)
Engine cylinders could use a lil more definition .. but it's nice :)
ie: make front halfs 5 sided, an smooth 'em, apply a sharp texture map .. but .. that's just me ..

About time this plane gets updated! Round nose and wingtips, what a concept!
-
I love the rudder pedals' heel tracks....nicely weathered, great touch.

Looks Great Guys cant wait for the new F4U-1
But I am wondering what these are (Circled in red)...?

my guess: hinges for pneumatic boosted flaps and tabs?
-
Pieces of Val eng parts I'm guessing!:aok
-
Aileron trim tabs?
-
I just want to know when I get to play with her.
-
Does the F4U have a stall slat on the starboard wing leading edge?
-
it wasn't a slat. It was a tab that interupted the airflow to make the right wing stall quicker, to help keep the plane stable at slow speeds.

Those are the trim tab linkages. The vertical piece is a horn attached to the trim tab and the straight line is the actuating rod. It appears that the inboard tab is a normal trim tab because the linkage goes directly into the wing. The outboard tab is probably either a servo or anti-servo tab which are typically used on unboosted flight controls (i.e., no hydraulic system to move the control). If the designer wanted to decrease the amount of pressure the pilot needed to move the control surface he'd put in a servo tab. Let's say you wanted the trailing edge of the aileron to move up, the servo tab would deflect down to assist the movement. If the designer wanted the control force to be harder to move then he'd put in an anti-servo tab which moved in the same direction as the trailing edge making it resist the movement. I don't know which the Corsair used but I'd assume they're servo tabs because of the size of the plane and control surfaces which would require quite a bit of stick force to move without assistance.

Thing is, beginning I THINK with the 1A, the F4U had either spring, hydraulic, or power-assisted control surfaces. Can't remember which it was.
-
Beeeeeeautiful!!!!!!!!!
Has it got a visible tailhook, yet? (Not that I really wanna nitpick ... just curious.) :D

Hey...if they're going to put trim tab actuaters on the wings they damn well should have a visible tail hook...and it should go up and down. While they're at it, they should add the LSO on the carrier deck and add landing grades to the scoring system. :D

Uh, did you look at all the images on the front page?

Actually, I did see the one with the hook up but must have skiped the next shot with it down. Skuzzy, u da man! :aok Now...how about that LSO? :D

Skuzzy, any word on what other versions we might see of the Hog?

Ok ..... found it. I am ..... happy.
Very happy.
As such I will stop asking for the Sherman Tank ... or .... ummm .... even the Spanish Civil War. For at least a month.
(Seriously .... it's good to see the F4U lookin' this good - and detailed - in the game)

No one expects the Spanish..... Civil War.
-
Help me i'm feeling lightheaded. :D :D Another question are they updating all the Blue Planes and also when's it out two weeks?
-
I hope not, I'm impatient to fly her as it is.
I mean, from the looks of things deflection shooting ALONE looks like it's going to be improved as the nose looks like it'll be less in the way of the view ahead.
-
I think it looks like crap. There are no brakelines visible on the landing gear. There goes the immersion factor.
