Title: Readable gauges
Post by: SkyGnome on September 29, 2006, 06:22:49 PM
Several of the new aircraft have very low contrast guages, and the new corsair is inflicted with the same problem.  I'm not sure what the justification of this is - but it's just really distracting.

Now perhaps these gauges are based on pictures or first-hand viewing of the cockpits - but under what light?  after what cleaners or vapors have hazed or removed the coatings?  after how many years of fading of black backgrounds?

Regardless of the reality of the whole thing, real pilots had free motion of their head, and the wonderful capabilities of the human eye in the real world.  We have pixelization, aliasing, shimmer, local glare, and an unrealistic field of view to make reading the gauges more difficult.

Increasing the contrast a bit to account for these things seems easy, reasonable, and simply would improve the quality of the experience.

Pretty please make new gauges readable!

Well, I guess it was. I didn't have to download a new version, so I have no idea how they slipped it in.

Probably because it's been remodelled, but but not released yet.
