It had his wifes name on it if I remember correctly.

He was more known for the Black Tulip pattern on the nose.  As a matter of fact Russians who saw his plane started flying the other direction, and it caused such a lull in his streak, that he started flying other planes so the Russians would engage him.  He soon had the Tulip Pattern Painted over.

If I remember from Reading, it was just a red valentines shaped heart, that Read Ush or Ushi in the middle of it.

I have a gif of his plane but the heart is very small and the name inside is illegible. Let me know what the text(Ushi?) is and the size you need and I`ll make a version for you. (EDIT)Use if you like.

Didn't he have the black tulip painted on inexperienced pilots planes so the Russians would stay away?

Believe her name was "Usch"

I think he stuck inexperienced pilots in it, but eventually just had it painted over, Bimmel didn't like to constantly repaint the thing, it would wear off after a time, and black paint was hard to get.  So to save the effort they just stopped painting it on.

He stated in his book that the Russians indeed kept away once they recognized the airplane with the black tulip was being flown by "The Black Devil."  He had the tulip design removed after a very short time because his kill per mission scores dropped sharply.  Once back to its original paint scheme, the Russians no longer differentiated his plane from that of the less experienced flyers and his scores climbed once again.

While at the Air Force Museum, I saw an Erich Hartmann Book, I think.

"Erich Hartmann, the Life of a German Fighter Pilot."

It was $40 U.S. which I couldn't afford.

There was a B&W Photo of the Heart, Red Heart, with Ursel written Diagonally through it.  I think there was a knife in the heart and white tears trailed down it.

I think there was a picture on every page.

Ah if only I was rich, I would have gotten it.

There was commentary from Bubbi's wife in the book also.

If I make it back, I will buy it, but alas finances being what they are.
