I don't have an opinion, but I know where you can find one...

have a look at the Canon s3 IS before you buy
-
Thats alot of little squiggly things for a camera. I suggest reading some of the threads xtoronto and Golfer posted on digital cameras.
-
before you buy, go where they have cameras and handle them, turn knobs, push buttons, look through the eye thingy, ask any questions you have.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh hhhhhhh
neilson, now i am completely confused on whether to get the Canon or the Fuji. :(
the thing edging me towards the canon is image stabilisation.
please can someone who knows about cameras look at the link and give me some advice? thank you!!

Another thing to think about is memory cards. The Canon uses SD cards. They are cheaper and easyer to get than the XD cards used by Fuji.
-
when i look at the sample images on the above link, the Canon looks like it has a lot more 'noise', whereas the Fuji is crystal clear.
You have a canon Nilsen? you pleased with it?
-
I dont have the S3 myself but i am recomending it to a friend. It in general does very well in all tests.
Yes, i have seen that it has abit more noise than some but also more detail. Noise can be edited out, but a lack of detail cant. Make sure that the photos you are referring to are not taken at higher ISO levels than the fujifilm tho.
