For anyone interested out there here is my jungle tree pack.
I made 2 versions: hi res and lo res.
By using lo res version you get 10 fps more than with hi res, but textures look blurry a bit when zoomed in alot. Both versions have 2 LODs.
Links:
hi res (http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/hires.zip)
lo res (http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/lores.zip)
Instructions:
Jungle is made from 2 objects- trees and bushes. In OE place the trees object(jnglgrp) and then in the same place put bushes object(jnglgrp2).That way you get a nice jungle with higher trees creating shade for lower bushes.
There is a bug with oe converting nocollide tag.So when you put the Jungle tile you've made in OE in TE, you will also have to put junglegrp and jnglgrp2 objects somewhere on the map in TE.
You are free to use these trees but please mention me in credits on clipboard map or motd.

Unfotunately yes that site doesn't support hotlinking so you have to cop/paste the links into your adress bar.it should work then.
-
Very nice... I think I like yours better than mine. :aok

Hey duh, do you custom tile your beaches, or did you edit an existing tile? Cause I can't figure out how to make custom tiles using my 3-D Editor.
EDIT: Looked again at your original image and noticed the orginal ground to water transition, so apparently you edited an existing tile. Man, I need to learn how to do that.
-
Got em bro. Thx for sharing! I've yet to master making custom objects, but I have a ton of custom terrain tiles if you are ever in need of something special.
-
:O
FREAKIN'A!
wtg! tx!
-
Whole island including beach is just one object.
I have some other tree packs i am working on, so i might post them here too.
-
If anyone is interested in these trees i can post them too.

Very nice looking trees Duh :aok
Have you made LODs for them and combined the individual trees as larger forrests? If so, what kind of polycounts and distances are you using for different lods?
I have several unfinished tree/forest projects and have not yet found suitable lods and their distances to make the lods change smoothly.
-
Glad you like them guys.
Winter forest object is cosisted of few trees each having 2 lods.I still haven't done a group lod for them and i don't think i will (looks wierd).
On my machine(xp2200+,radeon9200,768MB,winxp) i get 40 fps flying over them with my settings to medium, but when i zoom in it's down to 20 fps.I am still working on these trees, maybe make more lods for trees because of the low fps.
EDIT-i'll test fps with lower texture resolutions
-
Overall, you did a great job!:aok
-
Duh, I really need those trees! Plz host em for download!
-
Whole island including beach is just one object.
Elaborate
...please:D
-
he means its an airfield type object hangers radar tower just like a small large or mid airfield.
-
ah I see, kewl

Winter pine trees pack is ready for download:
hi res (http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/winter pine hi res.zip)
lo res (http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/winter pine lo res.zip)
Trees now have 3 LODs.
You are free to download these tree packs only if you mention in your map somewhere that i made the trees.:p
-
Now now duh, don't become like me!
-
In addition to the winter tree pack, here is the winter forest .til ground tile.
Tile (http://duhmaps.greatnow.com/ter0006.til)
-
Why cant i get ur website to download the tiles and trees duh?
It also says that the operation is aborted?
-
Copy this links into your adress bar(free server doesn't support hotlinking)
http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/winter pine hi res.zip
http://www.duhmaps.greatnow.com/winter pine lo res.zip
And for tile:

-
Duh, I got the .til file just fine, but I can't get the other one for the trees to work.
I know how to do it correctly, because I already got your palm trees and the .til file for this one, but I keep getting "File not Found" at your host page for hi res and lo res. Hmm. Did anyone else get them to work?
-
Sry for trouble- this should work- copy/paste these links to your adress bar.I can't find a decent free host:confused:
duhmaps.greatnow.com/wpinehi.zip
duhmaps.greatnow.com/wpinelo.zip
-
Thx duh!:aok
-
Hey Duh, when I have your trees in OE, I see em fine, but in TE they have no color. The tree shapes are there, but they are pure white. It's happening w/ both the palms and the evergreens. What am I doing wrong? They are fine in OE, and I know how to take new shapes into my maps. This is weird. Also, what is the HXT file that is included for? Do I need it?
EDIT: Never mind, I see how it works now. I dropped the HTX file in my texsrc folder and now all is well. Yayyy!
-
Holy crap did I actually see a decent looking coastline in the tropical pics?
Great work!
-
how'd u get a coastline? is it a different terrain texture, and speaking of those where can one get em? and how does one change em? i need a desert one and a coastline one would rly rly hlp mh map, looks like the shiznite
-
Trying to d/l the jungle trees but it gives me the File not Found error
-
Sry guys, it seems jungle won't be available until i get a new host.

You edit the coastline transition bitmap(s).

Here is the new webspace link. You will find all tree packs there and some maps.

Links work for me.
-
This is great work..the best I have ever seen for this game..
Your coast line and winter pines very realistic..
-
Psst.... its "Duh" not "dub"
-
Hey duh,
I'm trying to start a new GV terrain that's located on a small island. I want it to be tropical and I'm trying to get your jungle pack Hi Res and the ground tile you used for the beach. Problem is your website is not allowing me to download the Hi Res or Low Res tree pack for the jungle. Could you perhaps send them by any other means?
-
Fixed , try again now.
-
Working nicely, thanks. One more thing, I recall reading a warning about that I should place the custom tile someplace else in my terrain before using it due to some bug. Could you re-explain that or was it fixed?
-
No, that bug appeared only with custom nocollide island object, but nothing to worry because island is not in tree pack.
-
Okay, could I get the island tile though? Cause I'm trying to make a tropical GV terrain. Propably a 3 x 3 terrain to reduce "long distance" trips to action.
-
I'll upload new type of trees soon
-

-
I am pleased to announce that you have just placed AH into a new era of graphics!
-
Ok, here it is.
Texture is 1024x1024 pixels, if you wish to lower the quality for fps gain or reducing map file size extract the object to ac3d and just reize the texture, then import again.
Here is the direct link, file itself is still not showing on the site(having problems uploading index.htm)
