It's friday night in Texas..the friday night lights are shining all over texas - lots of people out for football. Plus, it the Texas-Ou weeked...Big pary in DFW.
The Texas gubernatorial debate is alos on - 7pm central US
The company producing the debate, well they're being kinda stingy on who sees what, and what companys and affiliates can broadcast it live. No internet broadcast of the debate...no video on demand... I'm not sure, but I don't think it can even be televised in AUSTIN,TX...by local networks...correct me if I'm wrong.
You might be able to pick it up if you have an extended cable service or directtv.
So, the big question for texans - is the debate being televised over an "on-air" station in your area? Is it being broadcast live?
Where I'm at - i'll only be able to get it on c-span.
The one debate Rick Perry agrees too...and the majorty of the people won't be able to see it, or will be watching their kids fottbal game.
gotta love politics. Rick Perrys gonna get his butt handed to him in a debate, and he doesn't want anyone to see it...lol
-
I had no idea they were having one let alone it being televised. You are in the Metroplex arent you?
-
Gotta love Texas politics...
-
I found it on a PBS station...lol
Cspan is showing the Wisconsin gubernatorial debate...
They should've had it on a Tuesday or Wednesday nite. Oh well - will fuel the fire for a good nite of drinking! :)
btw slash -Im about 200 miles south DFW
Here's some good reading on the subject of Belo broadcasting and the debate.

Holycrap. That puts you south of Houston. That's where I'm at. And we can only get this debate on C-SPAN?????
-
rgr that Waffle. Im looking for the debate right now.
-
Hell, its on ABC in D/FW.
-
No - I'm about 80 miles north of houston - Aggieland...
I can only find it on a pbs station.
Belo Broadcasting is based in Dallas - maybe that's why it's on ABC :) Evidently they're only broadcasting through affiliates of Belo braodcasting - so if there's no belo affiliate in your area - you're screwed.
I really want to go watch it in a bar, but you know what they say about drinking and politics .....
-
I can't find it on any of the channels.
The Belo aff. here is showing...Wheel Of Fortune.
-
What peeves me is that fact that acompany has the "rights" to a debate. The debate should be "for the people". I'm sure any Austin new coporation could've filmed it any day anytime and uplinked it for broadcast.
Actually, the State of Texas should've paid for the production, and make sure it's availible all over the state to any local/regional broadcasting station. I'd love to find out how many people this debate is actually available to. I mean presidential debates are crammed down your throats by every station in America...
Corporations and politics....
-
It's on now on CH. 11.
-
Well I get to listen to it...lol
No video- they're only piping audio from the pbs station...
-
Way to avoid answering the question Grandma....
-
I guess they cancelled the feed to PBS ...I got nothing now..lmao!
-
lol just came on and the panel is attacking chriss bell by asking questions "some people say you're boring, dull.."..wow!
-
Nah, it wasn't an attack. It was a question from the black guy saying it was a concern that Chris Bell comes across as boring and unexciting.
-
*** yeah, Kinky!!! Hell yeah!!!
-
Ok, 50 mins into the debate I've heard enough.
Perry - Republican tool. At least he comes off as non-rehearsed. But nothing else new here. $4000 - $5000 in electricity in the Guv'nah's mansion per month and it's "ok"? I think no, and neither is he.
Kinky - Heads above the rest in an honest answer to a question. His bringing up the 'trina refuse-ee's committing 20% of the murders here in Houston, the only candidate to even talk about it. That alone get's my vote. May be un-PC but that's exactly what I liked about him.
Bell - Your typical Democrat tool. Took a page right out of the Al Snore playbook. Nothing new, completely rehearsed...including his body language. This is the best the 'crats could do??
Grandma - Dodged too many questions and talked about herself in the third person. The last one alone eliminates her from this race in my book.
-
yup - I think I'll take "straight shooting for $1000" alex...lol
-
Mexico already has Texas back, get them fences up in Arizona soon

I already did! ;)
Had to Tivo the debate because of work. About to pour an adult beverage and watch it right now.
BTW a little info on Belo. They are the broadcasters that yanked "Saving Private Ryan" when ABC ran it on Memorial Day and put "Hoosiers" on in it's place. SPR had offensive language and was too violent.
-
Hey Rpm - since you have it recorded...can you go back and get a rough transcript or synopsis of the questions asked to each of the candidates?
I didn't record it, but I got this "odd" feeling that the questions were pretty biased.; partially to the fact that I had to listen to half of it, and not being able to watch it. The three challengers had to answer questions which I thought had negative connotations put in, while Mr. Perry's questions seemed to have a lot of positive praise used in their phrasing...except one of the final questions Perry had to answer, which seemed to put him on the defensive.
at least that was my impression of the questions.
BTW - was it all "belo" affiliate reporters that were the ones asking the questions?
my highlights of the debate - Kinky asking Chris Bell about "why there was only one debate, and why it was on a friday night of ut-OU weekend"
and then....
grandma
- "I'll take el presidente of mexico for $50, Alex" :D
-
Grandma didn't want to answer the questions. It was always, "With a Strahorn administration blah blah blah..."
Kinky's final statement was by far the winning factor. No hype, no colorful double-speak, no BS. And when he defined "politics"...
"Let's look at the word. 'Poly' meaning 'more than one or an abundance'. And 'tick' a 'blood sucking bug'."
Bullseye!
-
so kinky thinks that the katrina scum are...... scum? and... he admits that politicians... himself... are blood sucking pigs?
He can talk dirty and write songs too and looks weathered...
He is also a socialist who will raise your taxes and continue to protect the public school system from any competition,
But... he can be fun to watch... He isn't PC..
jon stewart is funny and rude too.... maybe he should be president?
I hope kinky lets you guys keep at least single barreled shotguns "for hunting"....... so long as they are registered and locked up somewhere that you can't get to em.
The man will raise your taxes and take away your freedoms to "help" the poor... If you are poor and never plan to get any better...you should vote for him. after all... what have you got to lose?

If I post a link to a Houston article about the debate will it get deleted?
