Can a DLL be hidden? I have a reoccuring problem with some ATI DLL's on my compaq box. specifically aticqag.dll. currently I cant even find it using any search method I know (help/tips appreciated) I cant unload it using regedit or the "short cut" run command
(rundll32 aticqag.dll,DLLUnregisterServer)
Yet NFR shows the file every time it searchs (and it immediately reappears after "deletion"). Can a DLL be protected ?? My understanding is that it requires an active X command to regenerate a DLL like this (common for virus's etc). Can I generate a list of all active X stuff??
This is way beyond my understanding of this level of stuff. I used security task manager to identify all the exe's running and disable all the compaq ones...also FS autostart to kill em (seperately of course)...neither worked.
Also using process explorer & Registry monitor {a task manager replacement & real time registry monitor (both from sysinternals.com) to look at whats running. Regmon actually shows NFR or DCpro accessing registry....but I cant find anything restoring the "deleted" files....
any help greatly appreciated. Cant believe others havent had this issue.

Well You could try to do a windows repair, (not a restore!) but since You have a COMPAQ, i am willing to bet that you have a set of cd's that are a complete image.
You might be able to try the system restore utility, but just make sure you dont reformat the drive. UNless you have a back up. This is about the only way to repair a registry
