Anyone have one / use one?
I've been eyeballing one lately, just wondering if anyones got any experience with them. The'yre a little pricey, but has a 12 year warrenty...
Being tall and sitting alot - I need to get some better support for the back.
-
start doing yoga or a martial art. sitting down is only ever going to hurt your back, even in the best seat evar.
-
Aeron chairs are the bestest. I've got one at work, wish I had one at home. Some day....
-
most kick bellybutton chair evar made. if I had the money........
buddy works on them and sells them and installs them, he has 3 of them that bastage.
-
I got one at work, Waffle. I had one at EA and loved it so much I dished out the cash to get one for HTC. Pyro and HT think that it's a good chair - just to spendy for what you get.
Anyway, next time your up this way you can drop by and decide for yourself.
- sudz
PS When I was pricing the chairs I noted that they retain alot of their value when reselling, if that matters to you.
-
Pick up sailing. You'll strengthen your back, or completely throw it out and never be able to walk again.
-
I've seen some knock offs of the design for about a 1/3 less. But then again, the dont have a 12 year warranty.
The one thing I was curious was the fully adjustable version as compared to the basic version. If it's worth the extra for $ for the bells and whistles...
-
Don't know - i got the fully adjustable one and never tried the other.
-
Well then - how's you back from sitting all those hours? :D

the knock offs don't hold a candle to the aeron's, not even close.
the thing with the aeron is from what I have been told from the buddy who takes care of them is they are guarenteed to be ergonpmically correct.
he had to goto michigan for a 2 week course to learn to work on them and stuff. they have government OSHA approval or something that says if the employer gets them for you, you can not sue for any sitting related injury.
just remember buy from a reputable dealer. there are 3 sizes of them and you have to get the right size for it to be comfortable. it's not just by weight, but height, waist size, leg length, and all that.
as far as the add-ons the lumbar and stuff are really worth it, the headrest is nice too, make sure to get the high back one too. the adjustable arms are a preference, all about how much time you use them, and how "abnormal" size you are and how they feel.
a real dealer can repair / change any option on them any time. you can have modifications installed at a later date from the company my buddy works for. adjustments too.

does that include "fat ass" syndrome? :D

Get the fully adjustable version .
I got mine for Christmas , it's the best money we have ever spent on playing this game . I got the back "locked" in the perfect spot for useing my ch peds , never before did they feel like it does with this chair .
Ya it costs :( but over time I hope to recoop that expense , this chair should last a long time .
Also I have a 1/2" pad on the chair bottom as with my build :P the side braces rubed just a tad .
Well worth it go get the better one , you won't be sorry .
I got mine from this site chair (http://www.homeofficesolutions.com/product-exec/product_id/293/pn/Highly_Adjustable_Aeron_Chair_Graphite_Frame)
Ya 900 bucks is wayyy too much :) hehe , but I thought my bellybutton was worth it :rofl

$900 is a STEAL for the areon :O
though with an online purchase you don't have the service included... was it put together professionally when you got it? if you had to assemble it, is it still covered under the warranty? the office furniture company my buddy works for seels them (with a markup of course) but they are not a "retailer". they do entire office buildings, from electrical, to $30,000 cubicles, and all the extras like chairs, files, drawers, keyboard tray's all that.
buying a chair from them you get the warranty service included for free.
for this kind of chair I'd highly recommend something along those routes.
goto hermanmiller.com and find a local retailer.

I have one. As a professional sitter, I consider it a requirement to be comfortable at work. It's worth every penny. Since you want support for the back, get the lumbar adjustment option too.
The only drawback I've found is that the Pellicle's porisity lets my butt get cold when the A/C for the building is set too low. :)

$900 bucks is a steal for a chair? No thanks. I sit down 12 hours a day at my job and I find it a joy. Try standing on your feet working retail for 9 hours a day and ANY chair is a blessing.
I'm glad you guys found something for your back but, damn, ain't no way I spending that kinda dough on a...chair.
And if I did it had better come with a side fridge, mini-microwave, foot massager, muscle massager, headrest speakers, eject handle, pro packed parachute, full gauge set, left and right joystick mounts, rudder pedals, and inertia replicator. :D

I have one at work and wish I could afford one at home

No no no ... $900 or more for an office chair? No no no ... nine hundred DOLLARS? No ... no ... no ...
Now somebody please post what is just as good a chair for much less money, e.g., Camry is not as fancy as Lexus, but gets 90% of the job done for 30% of the cost.

I only had to put the 4 screws to attach the back to the main bottom part of the chair .
Warranty ? donno , I checked for the papers but can't place them , grrr . I must be getting feble as well as old .
It came in two days from when we ordered it , I do remember that and no problems yet to date . I got the free leather arms with it , was a promo deal at that time . The BIG one too :) size three .
I would order another from them with out thinking twice about it .
Edit : I checked that web site and says nothing about warranty , my guess is your right , never thought about it , doh :P

went ahead and pulled the trigger and ordered one...
The last chair I had cost $200 and lasted about a year and 1/2 before it broke. I figure a with 12 year warranty,as well as the fact of being an ergonomically correct chair, it's better off in the long run. Especially if it helps out knocking out the chiropractor visit every couple of months. :D
