long buff raids i love to put some period swing and jazz on, just for that authentic kinda feel (glenn miller, tommy dorsey etc.)

long fighter sorties, lots of stuff really, but usually some classic rock, pink floyd, led zeppelin, the doors, mix and match really.

and quicker paced sorties like mad base defense or a good furball i usually have some more modern dance going

but in general, it's mix and match, if i'm playing music while flying anyway (usually drowns out vox so i dont usually bother)

one thing i cant stand is modern shout rock and aggressive metal crud, which i see lots of people playing along to their vids. i guess some of them get hyped up by it, but i just think it's piss poor...

Or Thunderstruck... that would be a great furball song esp if it was remixed to about 8 to 10 minutes

I only listen to music when I fly offline and I'm mellow.. enya, hanz zimmer, stuff like that.

When flying the P-51D, nothing much beats "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" :aok

Of course, the C-Hog requires "Boom" by P.O.D.

And YES...because of Yucca...

It is now SOP to play "Down With the Sickness" by Disturbed in any Jug that you up in.

When my field is getting vulched: ==> SWING <== (http://www.cmt.com/loaded/index.jhtml?vid=94627)

Squad Ops:  Me and My Gang (http://www.cmt.com/loaded/index.jhtml?vid=93122)  and   Beer for My Horses (http://www.cmt.com/loaded/index.jhtml?vid=26552)

Other various times require these songs:

"Rippin Kittin" by Golden Boy
"Professional Killer", KMFDM
"Now You Know" by Full Devil Jacket
and of course...

"Treetop Flyer".  I have it done nicely by the Rich Whiteley Band.

I listen to alot of Hendrix while I play, some Dolly Dagger or Voodoo Child (slight return) always puts me in a good mood. Also I'll listen to some Guns n' Roses, My Michelle has a beginning that I love and the lyrics crack me up.

Revvin' up your engine
Listen to her howlin' roar
Metal under tension
Beggin' you to touch and go

Highway to the Danger Zone
Ride into the Danger Zone

Headin' into twilight
Spreadin' out her wings tonight
She got you jumpin' off the track
And shovin' into overdrive

Highway to the Danger Zone
I'll take you
Right into the Danger Zone

You'll never say hello to you
Until you get it on the red line overload
You'll never know what you can do
Until you get it up as high as you can go

Out along the edges
Always where I burn to be
The further on the edge
The hotter the intensity

Highway to the Danger Zone
Gonna take you
Right into the Danger Zone

Highway to the Danger Zone

Anything fast... some Lagwagon, some NOFX, trow in some good riddance, a little descendents, occasionally I'll throw on some Hot Water Music, but mostly I just listen to cartoons in the background with a little wining and the constant demands for popcicles and cheese and crackers from the little laggers.

I have a few choice cuts from a couple bands.

Uncle Tupelo:
- Graveyard shift
- Before I break
- Factory Belt
- Train
- Outdone
- Left in the Dark
- Nothing
- I Wanna Destroy You

Son Volt:
- Picking Up the Signal
- Driving the View
- Flow
- Straightface
- Drown

Drive By Truckers have several good albums.  Anyone who likes their rock a little southern fried should check them out.

Don't know if you are looking for WWII era music, modern, something associated with "war songs" or what kinds of music in general.  Many folks equate the 60's music from the Vietnam era with general "war".  A lot of early Heavy Metal Music fits heavy bomber missions (IMHO).  You probably want some consistency in music types for a movie.... not good to jump around too much.

A few on my iPod list (from AHBomber and AHFighter playlists no less) for use in game includes, but no where inclusive:

"The Mob Rules" by Black Sabbath
"Block Rockin' Beats" "Leave Home" and "Piku" by The Chemical Brothers
"Forsaken" by David Drainman
"Heavy Fuel" by Dire Straits
"Bodies" by Drowning Pool
"Epic" by Faith No More
"Absurd" (Whitewash edition) by Fluke
"DOA" by the Foo Fighters
"What Are You Waiting For" by Gwen Stefani
"South Side" Gwen and Moby
"Heavy Metal", "Ram It Down", "Hard As Iron", "Delivering the Goods", "The Sentinel" all by Judas Priest
"Bom Bom Bom" by Living Things
"Missing Time" by MDFMK
"Forgotten Years" Midnight Oil
"Detroit Rock City" version by Mighty Mighty Bosstones
"Space Lord" and "Powertrip" by Monster Magnet
"Head Like a Hole" and "The Hand That Feeds" by Nine Inch Nails
"Infinity" and "Millionaire" by Queens of the Stone Age
"Black Betty" by either Ram Jam, or Spiderbait
"Feuer Frei" by Ramstein
"Radar Rider" by Riggs
"Highwire" by The Rolling Stones
"Battle Without Honor Or Humanity" Tomoyasu Hotei (from Kill Bill, Vol. 1)
"Heavy Metal" by Sammy Hagar
"Heavy Metal (Takin'A Ride)" by Don Felder (movie: Heavy Metal)
"Carmina Burana: O Fortuna" from the movie "Excalibur" (as opposed to "Ride of the Valkiries" from movie "Apocalypse Now")
"Thunderstruck" by AC-DC
"To Sick To Pray" Alabama 3
"Stop The Rock"  and "Time Is Running Out"  by Apollo 440
"Takin' Care of Business"  Bachman-Turner Overdrive
"LA Woman" version by Billy Idol
"Jim Dandy" by Black Oak Arkansas
"Everybody Knows" by Concrete Blonde, or  Leonard Cohen (who also did "If It Be Your Will")
"Run Through the Jungle"  Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Right Place, Wrong Time" by Dr. John
"Ends"  Everlast
"Cars" version from Fear Factory or Gary Numan
"Sinnerman"  Felix da Housecat
"Somebody Told Me" The Killers
"Fuel"  Metallica
"Wave of Mutilation" (UK Surf Mix) by the Pixies
"Tall Cool One"  Robert Plant
"Put Your Lights On"  Santana
"Vertigo" U2
"Excess"  by Tricky
"Free Ride" by Edgar Winters (one of my favs for NOE goon runs).
"We're an American Band"  Grand Funk

If looking for instrumentals, techno, electronic or new age, look at music from Moby or Blue Man Group.

If Betty is anywhere in what you want to post, seriously consider "Queen Bee" from Grand Funk Railroad.  (I REALLY need to find a decent way to pipe that over VOX when she runs/in a mission sometime.)

Determine what kind of music you are looking to collect to narrow your search.

If you like that, you might like Fintroll. Try the 'Nattfodd' album.

It's pretty symphonic and all that, just not as gay and goth as nightwish.

:lol

I'm not a fan of the band really, they do crack me up though. Some of their folk stuff is hilarious.

They are good musicians, though.

If i were to listen to music while I flew (and I never do), I'd have to give this a play, as the 109 is my favoured aircraft:

To fill my 40GB Toshiba I used pandora.com to find music similar to what I already listen to.

This is what is on my mp3 player now which I have playing in the background when Im flying via an auxiliary wire.

Ive gotten into a lot of European metal such as the likes of Hammerfall, Dream Evil, Jag Panzer, Iron Savior, Falconer, Edguy, Evergrey, Symphorce, elegy,

Danish Internet Rock:

I prefer "DR Rock" in the list in the upper-right corner. "DR Modern Rock" has too much Korn, not enough songs about sex and cars.
