Played the demo last night - downloaded the rest of it off steam. Just hellova lot of fun - kinda WARGAMES from the early 1980s meets modern PC's. Think of World War 3 strategy - except multi player :)
Lotta fun.

yeah, I played a 4-player game as SA against the Soviet Union, Europe and Africa. Woulda been easy, but Africa dropped and went AI early. I teamed with the soviets (secretly, he insisted) so we'd concentrate on Europe and Africa. But he still sent his fleet and subs my way. Almost all of them. Subs were active pinging, so I fished out half of them. Then he rained nukes on me for no good reason. Of course, I had full defense. The end result? Everyone nuked me; I got my digs in on Europe and Africa. Africa sucked, score-wise. Soviets ended with 40 points. Europe cleared 300 points, only to be brought down to a more reasonable blowout by my rather convincing ICBM salvo.
Spectators were in awe of everything.
Moral of the story: Next time you stab me in the back, have the decency to do it to my face.
Or better yet: only backstab when it's in your interest to do so.

Playing this in office mode vs 4 other guys at work. The speed is set to real time and a small icon sits in the system tray if anything happens, such as a launch is detected. Doesn't require immediate action, usually have a 30 minute time before impact to do something about it - but its a nice feature. Currently planning to nuke Moscow and everything from the Polyarni Inlet near Murmansk with a fleet of SLBMs.
Despite the fact he's in my alliance. Muahah

what's min specs needed for this?
I'm at work and can't really look for them with out big brother catching me
-
heh. Specs are Really, really low.
The download is 56 megs, and without music it's 1.2 megs. So if you can run winXp, you probably can run DEFCON.
Oh, and by the way, there's no registry muckage, so you can put it on a USB drive, and run the exe directly off that if you don't want to leave any traces on the machine.

this game is fantastic
lately ive been playing both defcon and AH at the same time.....
