Title: Copying HTC from C:\ D:\

Hello every1, am attempting to copy HTC (C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High II
) to  a disk in Drive D:\, I've scoured Google.com attempting to find the correct solution or HOW to do it correctly WITHOUT damaging my drives or computer, unfortunately, I'm more confused now than I was before.  

:confused:  It seems that entering the info on my computer to achieve the results I want is to type:

        C:\copy "Program Files\HTC\Aces High II" D:

However, I'm not sure that is the correct way to do it, could some1 pls show me the steps to enter so that I'd achieve my results, also I learned that prior to copying info to another disk drive I should "REFORMAT" the disk domiciled in Drive D.   What is that for & why?

Once again could u pls list the steps for me to accomplish this?

xcopy c:\dir\dir\*.* d:\ /E /K /V

If you want the game to work, you will need to re-install it.  Make a copy of all the folders, un-install AH, then re-install the game on your D drive, then replace the the following folders with the folders from the backup copies:

ahiiterr
settings - most important folder to save
sights
skins
sounds - if you have any of the sound packs other then the default sounds
maps - if you have saved any custom maps

You will not need to replace cache or squads.  The latest information will load the first time you log in.

Now just run the game.  I use this procedure every time I upgrade my PC or hard drive.  The settings folders has things like your logon and password, saved views head positions, video settings, joystick/key map, and other settings you have made.

Gunner nailed it.

A copy will not change the windows registry entry's.
So windows will look for the game on C:\ when its residing on D:\.

Much easier to back up your settings, terrains, etc, and reload from scratch.
If you have a problem with download speed I'd strongly recomend you save the latest install file to CD, ohhh and save your settings there while your at it.  :)

I've never had any trouble moving around HTC directory.  just drag it from one drive to the next.  no need to reinstall it.  other programs maybe, but not this one.  backing up the settings dir is a good idea though.

just copy(or cut) and paste the directory into new place, then update the shortcuts....

Aces high doesnt mess with registry..... at least i think so..

i moved Aces high from slow hdd, to raptor raids and had no issues, other than it loading too fast for me to do my chores before it finished loading....... :p

Aces doesnt need registry entrys to run, its just so the uninstaller knows where to uninstall it from.... and why would you want to uninstall AH?
