I want to take an airfield map and overlay some notes on it in red and white -- number the targets and entrance and egress vectors. The maps are Bitmap images.
What application should I use?
Oh, I posted this question here because I figured y'all would know the answer.

open map which i think is in the AH folder...use any editing programme.. then use layers to draw and write onto it.. when finnished, reduce to one layer. then save it as a bit map in ah file.. then i think yo can call up the map from clipboard..
i think this i how you can do it... its been a few years since i've done it so good luck:aok

Thank-you Selector~!! Re "editing program," I'm application illiterate. Can you name a couple that can be found for free or exists in Windows?
Thanks,

I got Microsoft PictureIt in a bundle; works for simple things. Can also use Paint, which comes with windows.
I am not a graphics guy at all, but I have used the freeware open xource program called "the GIMP" (Graphic image manipulation program). link is here (http://www.gimp.org/)
It seems to have lots of the features that these art majors talk about, and best of all its free. I've messed with it as a pure amateur...and it can do far more than I can make it do...if you know what I mean

Thanks Sim!! Will try paint first then trudge on from there. And yes, I know what you mean.
