So, I dunno, was thinking more than is possibly healthy. Here's the thought....
When you capture a base, it degenerates into a single mud airstrip as, territory captured in war isn't usually in great condition after a battle. The longer you hold the base for, the more it generates (the longer you hold the area, the more amenities are available to you), say;
0+ hours - mud strip
4+ hours - small airfield
7+ hours - medium airfield
9+ hours - large airfield
If the field is re-captured it degenerates and the cycle is started again.

i like it..... even though im a H2H er. Do you think that 9 hours is a bit long or do the MA battles for airfields last that long?

What about when you capture a base, say it is in Small Field Stage. Instead of going back to the start, you start with what you captured? Otherwise, going for 9+hours would be imposible for us to get to a Large field. But you could always have fields as just being able to generate from say: Mud/Small, Small/Med, Med/Large...
Would be really nice if we could get the Karelia Terrain V-Bases it would be nice. No more losing troops by a lone Lgay-7... :D

The concept of the idea is very interesting. Yet, very cool and it would be great eye candy. In addition, great for scenario events. But I think the time for the airfields would have to be in game time.

I like the overall concept.
Perhaps the time could be as discribed but shortened by resupplying and by resuppying I mean not only fields supplies, but bringing troops to do the additional work and support. Also, certain aircraft could only be supported by certain size fields. The mud field may take 5 minutes to re-arm a aircraft. Where a large field at 100 percent would take 30 seconds.

would make the CM Terrain Team's job hell. For maps like Japan which featured airfields based on real war-time airfields, I'm not sure how much I like the idea of Atsugi Airfield being reduced to dirt and mud.

I wasn't talking about special events arena, just the Late War Arena.

If HTC modeled that it would effect all fields no matter what arena they are in

Firstly, let me apologise for the lack of information in my first post. To be honest, I don't remember posting it, was uber drunk.
The thought as it appeared in my head during sober times was;
Example:
Bish capture Rook large field. They have to bomb fighter hangers and VH to take field. At the time of taking the field, everything is down, bar the buff hangers. Ack, Dar, FH's, VH - proably some moron also took down Troops, Ord and Fuel. There is nothing on the field available.
The level of the captured field should reflect it's condition at the time of capture. So, with the example above, having only 4 Hangers total still up, only 4 ammenities should be available to the capturers.
1) Ack - which pops automatically anyway
2) VH
3 +4) 2x FH's
This will make the field essentially a Small Airfield.
My timings are noticable off. So lets say that the Bish hold this field for an hour. After that hour, if the field is linked to a friendly supply route and is fully up (for that hour), the field evolves into a medium field. The process can be helped along by supply bringing vehicles (Goon/M3). A fully operational small field can be upgraded by 8 sets of field supplies.
2 hours or 16 supplies evolves the field to Medium and 3 hours or 24 sets of supplies eveolves the field to Large (but the field has to remain fully up for that hour).
If a field is taken by a suprise attack and only the town is dropped, the field status remains the same (large remains large, etc.) and all amienities are available to the capturer.
And this is the craziest idea ever as it probably means recoding the entire game.

i think its a very good idea for the main areana but the times should be lower for the H2H arenas

If you take it back to a "mud strip", maybe would should implement
Navy "Sea-Bee's" too. Kind of a "build your own" airfield, then supply it yourselves.:rofl
