Title: FPS problem

I've never had problems before.. But now my fps are 20-35 in tower when even in bigest furball fps would never drop below 45. Used to be 60 all the time (what my refresh is at). No i have not been to any pron sites. Yes i have done a virus scan no i did not find anything really only a few.

I deleted aces high cache ive always ran at 1024 + hires @ 1280x1024.


AMD 3000+ 1 gig ram ati x800pro

what is only a few ???? LOL

whats running in your task manager ?

i bet you have something hogging up cpu cycles, most likely a virus, adware ,or something trying to update constantly.

well im not sure i deleted most of them ill rescan see if they still there ill copy names then delete then go into regedit and attack them :p

Nothing out of ord in my task manager (yes im sure) all of them check out:D


lol to tell truth i had about 40 since last time i did virus scan was like over year ago:cry

So..what was the fix

40 seems high to me even with VS and firewall running and my browser I only have 35
Would still like to trim it more

If you do a search for "black viper XP optimization", you'll find a host of mirror sites that offer some good tips to tweaking XP.  Mainly turning off services you dont need.  You'd be amazed how much memory you can free up.
