Welcome to snapshot "NOBALL" on thursday 19.10.06.
Once again the Allied air forces are challenging the Luftwaffe over the skies of France. In this event the British Mosquitos with American Thunderbolts and Lightnings will be fighting with the latest German Messerschmitt and Focke-Wulf fighter aircrafts.
We will begin at 3pm Eastern (21 CET) in the Special Events Arena, please be there 10 to 15 minutes early.
You can read more details of the event and setup from the ahevents.org (http://ahevents.org/site/content/view/71/72/) site.

In April of '44, in preparation for Operation: Overlord, the Allies began a heavy strike campaign to help pave the way and make it easier to land on the beaches of Normandy. During this time, the 8th and 9th AirForces stationed in Great Britain launched several hundred attacks against V-bomb sites (NOBALL targets), airfields, factories, and other strategic targets in Germany and occupied Europe. These attacks, code-named POINTBLANK, were made in an attempt to isolate the battlefield and for the Luftwaffe to move their fighters farther East as D-Day grew closer.

If anyone is reading this and wondering what on earth is a snapshot, then I hope that this description from the ahevents.org (http://www.ahevents.org/site/) site can give you some idea of it.
Snapshots are designed from military conflicts around the globe during World War II. This is a walk on event and all players are welcome. Frames usually last for approximately 1 hour.
Time permitting the hosting CM will run a 2nd frame that would allow attending players to switch sides. These are single life frames. Snapshots are held every Wednesday Evening at 2200 hours (10PM EST) and Thursday at 1500 hours (3PM EST) in the Special Events Arena.
Players entering the arena will be asked to pick a side, Axis or Allied. Once sides are established you will attempt to complete the mission that has been described in the Snapshot design and/or MOTD (Message of the Day).
