Title: P-47 V Speeds
Post by: Stoney74 on October 17, 2006, 10:37:04 AM
Just curious if anyone knows actual max gear extension / max flap extension speeds for the jug variants in the game.  I'm not so sure that they are modelled properly in AH.  For instance, the P-47N POH states to start dropping flaps in the upwind leg of the landing pattern.  It also states to not turn base to final with any less than 150 IAS, and to cross the numbers with the same.  Unfortunately, it doesn't list gear extension or flap speeds.

In AH, my gear creaks like a son-of-a-gun when I drop it anywhere near 150 IAS and I can't get anymore than 3 notches of flaps above about 170 IAS.

Seems like a plane with such high landing speeds would have higher gear and flap extension speeds.  Any help out there?

Ok,

Found a website, http://rwebs.net/avhistory/opsman/pursuit/section6.htm , that lists a condensed amount of operating instructions from Technical Orders.  It states

"Do not lower landing gear above 200 MPH"
"Do not lower flaps above 195 MPH"
"Never exceed 250 MPH with landing gear down"

These speeds are much higher than those allowed in AH, with the exception of the flap speed, which I assume means full flaps.

For whatever its worth, there's an expansion pack for MSFS 2004 that has the Jug's in it (including the XP-72).  Anyway, 195 IAS for both full flaps and gear.  Wolfala showed me that...
