I hear that unless you have a top notch computer that it's not even worth purchasing...I can barely run the last version, I wont ever bother with this until I upgrade my comp

Got a copy for "Work" purposes. Running a pretty buff system for todays standards - 2x Nvidia 7900 GTX's SLI'd together, Abit AN832X MB with an AMD X2 4400, 2 GIG ram and 2 300 gig HDs. Had the sliders set about mid range, was getting mid 20s for frame rates. Still tweaking with the settings, but it is a typical resource hog.

Will keep you advised.

Historically all the MS Flight Sims have been porky on release, then later patches improve performance.

The demo played quite well on my P4 2.9ghz/4gb/ATI All In Wonder 9800 Pro system.  I'm surprised Wolf's system doesnt show massively bigger numbers in regards to FPS.

Damn, I just bought the thing today, thinking my computer can handle it.  I am down loading it now.  I hope it can run ok on my computer.

I'd forgotten it was due out until I saw it on the shelf a few hours ago at Frys.  They've got a promo price on it for about $10.00 off, which is nice since I got two copies of the last version. One to run on the desktop, other on the laptop so I could track under "CFII mode".  I just use the sim to goof off with holds and approaches from time to time.

Have they added anything new and worthwhile or is it just an eye candy update?

Sounds like it might kill the laptop with bloat, so I'll wait to see more feedback from ya'll.

It took a good while to install 15 gigs. Now I have a problem with the lack of suitable addons, that do not work with FSX without a patch. Most of the best addons of course doesn't, how else.

I think the rule for this should be as follows: If you have to think about if your computer can run it, it can't.

IT is runing ok on my computer.

Question. What is the difference between the Delux addition and the standered addition?

if you are a FS fan like me, and run an up-to-date computer, yes!
and if not you can have the same fun with fs5 with less graphics.

More realistically, will be without a couple of DLL's which will make any addons you want more or less useless without.

The Delux version has a few more aircraft and cities that are highly detailed. That's it. Read it on the forum at Flightsim.com

if you have FS9 with loads of mods, id wait a while till you upgrade to FSX, because its kinda a downward step, going from fully tweaked/modded FS9, to default FSX.

What's the difference in packaging on the deluxe vs non?
The copies at Frys are $15.00 off retail presently, but only say "pc dvd" version.

Every version is DVD only - unless u want a 15 CD installation. And as I pointed out before, aside from having fewer aircraft - standard will be missing a few DLL's which making running any addons a gamble if they made procedure calls out to those DLL's which don't exist.

I found my copy for $47 at Circut City

I don't know how else to tell you this, but one says "Deluxe Edition." The other does not...  :D

Bought it (the "Deluxe Edition") earlier this week and loaded it up. It reminds me of Vista. It has a little fancier looking GUI but little else except for updated graphics. Well, there is glass cockpit for a couple planes now, but I can't see any benefit since it looks like a DOS game at my settings.

I don't have a dual-core AMD or Conroe processor, so it looks worse than FS2004 because I can't run it higher than "very low" graphics settings without it being a slide show. Returning to virtual cockpit in view transitions can take up to 10 seconds to render at "medium-high" settings, and it looks pathetic at that graphic setting anyway.

Even at "very low" setting, bringing up the map can take over 10 seconds and the screen goes black, thinking you've crashed the game.

I don't want to talk about it anymore... :(
