I have read just about every post since this new change occured in AH... and even tho I still dont like the change, I am trying to adapt. What really pisses me off lately is the select "few" that feels the need to attack every single post in here. It seems that if anyone has a complaint or just wants to voice their opinion, they are automatically attacked. Its absolutely stupid. The other part that is really chapping me is the attacks on the large squads. I am part of a large squad..... so..... the changes were not our doing, so why should we feel obligated to make YOUR nights funner by switching sides or leveling out the fight.... noone gives a rats butt that we are not having as much fun as we were..... but you few who feel that we all should bow down to make your nights funner is absolute BS... I feel very confident that the attackers will have a field day with this post, but that will only show that my allegations are correct..... There needs to be some kind of solution that would benefit everyone.... but as it stand now, only the complaints of a select few will ever get any notice... however at least I have gotten this off of my chest.... I <

So you come on here a create a thread and no one else is allowed to post unless they agree with your content. This post will do nothing but drag out more mud and conflict ... like we didn't or don't have enough posts on this subject.
You seem passionate about what you posted ... for the price of a long distance call, why don't you call HT or Pyro and vent on them ... they alone decided on the change. After you get done talking to them, please post how the conversation went and what you talked about.

As I PLAINLY said above, my vent was on the people who attack threads automatically. I never once said that replies were not allowed, HOWEVER I did say that the ones who attack would have a field day... I was also defending the large squads ... again, never said anything about not allowing replies... just the attacks on the posts... there is a big difference in disagreeing and just being a jerk about it.

I can see your point if I thought like you do.
I guess that my point would be that I would just as soon you (meaning the ones with the mega squad mentality) would just go away and that the new guys coming in would be more oriented to air combat and, rather than "win the war" centered...
More centered on large fun fights with less griefing and gameing the game. I would like to see less milkrunning and less 9 on one and less allways having to have the very best plane.
I would like to see more community where everyone was willing to switch sides if it took that in order to have a good time and a good fight.
If you have to go in order for that to happen... it doesn't bother me... I don't want HTC to lose the money but I would like to see you (mega squad toolshedders) replaced by someone with better game ethics.

I know it seems new to you, Mystic, but really the “attacks” against large squads are just a continuation of the old gripes by “the few” as you put it.
Before the change, “Toolshedders and Hordes are ruining the game.”
After the change, “Toolshedders and Hordes are ruining the game.”
The only subtle difference is that individual squads are now being attacked rather than the generic “horde” term. With the lower arena numbers, any group of 5 is considered “horde-like”. So any large, cooperative squad is easy to target for “hording behavior”, even though you may not be doing anything differently than before.
Same dance, same tune, they’re just playing on a different instrument.
Maybe knowing that, it will be a little easier for you to brush off.

First off, thank you for the way you posted Laz
. From the way I see it, this is where everyone is divided.... and to be honest, I really dont have a problem finding fun fights, its the idea that as a large squad we should be obligated to do it, just because we are a larger squad... sadly, I think the days of the bigger squads are gone or going away, and its sad... there were several good large squads on all 3 countries.... again, I know that this has been debated to death, and my main reason for the vent was the attacks on the posts....... unfortunately this debate won't go away for a very long time.....

Usually I just read the posts and move on.... but lately it seems that if anyone posts any type of topic, they are attacked right off the bat..... and the frustration of sorting thru all of the BS to get to the real topic along with the other stuff just finally boiled over..... now that its off my chest.... You seem to be referencing "large squads" quite a bit.
Clarify this. A squad in AH is limited to 32 players max. So what you are referencing are multiple squads with the same name. Putting the same name on 3 squads does not make it one squad. It makes it 3 squads with the same name.
You are unhappy that as you see it that AH is dictating how your "large squad" plays.
In essence what you seem to want is that you can have upwards of 90 players in your "large squad" dictate the tone in an arena.
Again using the term "large squad" is decieving as there is a limit on squad size in AH so there is no "large squad" just multiple squads with the same name.

What I find amazing is how the same subjects get discussed over and over and over and over and over again.
Why do people keep discussing them?
Is it to "change the views of the other posters"?
Is it to "make sure HTC knows their view on the subject"?
A person who likes to fly bombers isnt gonna become a furballer just because of a forums discussion.
A furballer isnt gonna start to fly bombers and take bases just because of a forum discussion.
Someone who likes the new format isnt gonna start disliking it because of a forums discussion. A person who hates it is not gonna start loving it.
So I really dont see the first one as a valid reason.
The second one... christ please dont insult HTC.. they very well know some people dont like the new format and that some people like it... just as well as they know that some pilots like to toolsheed and some pilots like to furball and that these have different views on how the game should be played....
HTC are intelligent people.
Personally I can only see one reason for the never ending discussions.... Therapy....

mystic, I agree that there are many people here that do not contribute anything helpful to a discussion and sometimes just reply to anger others for self satisfaction.
You play the game to fly with your squaddies and have fun with each other. You must also remember that you are to have fun with the enemy you are flying against. Lately, there are still those who gang up others in the MA, 4v1 or even 10v1. I had many 7v1s last night. No one has fun fighting against a large group way out numbered.
Remember what happens when FSO's are unbalanced, it's no fun on the smaller side, so a squad is placed on the other team for the next frame.
Just remember, you have the power to ignore any attacks posted on this bbs.

Wow... you have full time enemies?
See, I change sides, alot. Therefore, somebody I treated very poorly may just be the guy with the option to clear my 6 in a few minutes. If somebody was a dick to me, and the next day, I'm on their side, and they're yelling for help with 2 guys on them... do you really think I'm gonna roll in to the rescue, or just let them die, then start my attack?
On the flipside of that, treat me badly, and I'll change to YOUR side, .wingman you, and start calling in friends to come cherrypick you relentlessly. You won't even know I'm doing it, just that you're having a really bad night (or nights, should I be really mad).
Any game where there's such easy ways of griefing others should be played with alittle respect to the guys you're shooting at. There's no such thing as a permanent enemy in this game. Just food for thought.

I guess one would assume that you have actually spent time thru personal experience on the amount of time that one wastes on counting peanuts in a streaming heap of feces seeing that you speak with such authority on the subject.

Actually Slapshot, the post I think is great. As is yours. Especially your 2nd paragraph. Maybe less censoriousness all around might go a bit to "drag out more mud and conflict." What do you think?

I disagree. I think the game rocks! In 3 months, with the changes behind us or the changes fully assimilated by us, we'll be fine. I'd like to see fuel porking brought back though :)

To suggest anything further becomes an argument that somehow HTC is limiting a squad from flying together.
This isn't true as a 32 man squad rarely has all 32 up at one time. More then likely about a third of that so arena size isn't going to affect it.
BUT! The argument has been that HTC has made flying with your squadron impossible because of arena limits. This of course isn't true unless you accept the notion that 3 squads with the same name is actually one squad.....which it isn't :)

As I understand it and I may be totally wrong, the new CAP arrangements being that when you attempt to sign in to an arean, the system will place you in the arena, if the arena was at a cap when you attempted to sign in, you are forced into the next version of that arena type. If that's correct and the rest of my squad is in the first version of the arena. Then I can't join with my squad. Do I have that wrong?

The change has no effect on our ability (as a large squad 40+) to toolshed with impunity:t We like the change. The change is good. HTC has not limited squad play but perhaps has enhanced it, with period arenas. Mystic2's original post has merit. The ones who are the most vocal and critical seem to contribute the least and are only interested in squashing a valid opinion. So keep posting Mystic2

I really don't see a difference, fulballer vs toolsheder, the last furball I chose to fly over, I counted almost 20 aircraft all total, looked like a 60 / 40 mix chasing their tails around, to me, it's just a herd going around in circles as opposed to the herd hitting the airfield, what's the difference, it's still a herd.

looks to me like the pure fight Sims have died, at least don't see any around. People want more choice, Air/Ground/Sea fights, Gv's working with aircraft, squads of like minded people to fly with. Flew AW for a short time, got bored quick.

Now.. some of the guys that been around here a while may wonder what the fuss is about... why do we keep bringing up the same topics over and over... haven't they all been done to death?
yes and no. one of the reasons I.... and most of the long in the tooth guys here don't post much on this BB (again...allmost all my posts are on the more adult and thicker skinned Oclub)
The reason we don't is because, as was said... it has all been done to death.
Or has it? seems that it has only been done to death for us longer term players... seems the newbies don't know all this stuff.
Seems that like flaconwing says.... the newbies just want to have fun.... He has a hard time getting em to the point where they are anal griefers and "win the war types".... Us "vets" stay away from this board because it is the same old same old and frankly.... pretty much controlled by the anal types who play hundred and MORE hours a month! they have it their way and they are "trainining" the newbies to think that fun is evil.
I just think that every once in a while it is good for the new guys to see that what the mega squad guys are preaching and teaching...
Is laughable to a large group of guys who have been here from the beggining. That the newbies firs instinct (to have fun and fight) was the right one all along and their heroes are conning them and depriveing them of some of the best fun to be had in AH.
Evidence of what I say is all the vitriol and anger and angst that is spewed by the same few defenders of the mega griefer squads.
This has been their playground and they don't like haveing their covers yanked.

Lazs, the posts count under your name reads over 18000 posts. I think you need to change that line about not posting much. I mean even if you divide that number by 10 years that's still 1800 a year. I think by anyones count, that's a lot of posts.
