Title: 110 usage / discoe
Post by: LTARokit on October 19, 2006, 05:17:01 PM
Don't know if this is bug or problem.  Anyone heard of using a 110 heavy to attack town & then getting discoed during the attack?

I go in with bombs, drop, bombs go off bldgs go down;  extend & return with rockets, rockets do not have any effect;  extend & return......cut loose with cannon & no effect.  Soon after discoe..........three for three last night.  A couple of times the night before.

I can do the same with a different AC & no problems.  Squaddie told me I may need to reload AH.

Thanks,
Rokit

I *have* heard of similar problems before. But i unfortunatly cant recall what plane and who reported it.

What you could try is film it (if its reproducable) and send the film together with a full report on the circumstances to Skuzzy.

had this problem before, and it was related to a corrupt sound file. whenever I went into a dive it would disco. I think it was in the stress sound. maybe try reverting back to original sounds or download new sound pack.

Thanks for the feed back folks.  Went ahead and cleaned and reloaded (saved settings 1st :) )  And wow!! what a difference, everything loading faster, better FR's, it's all good :aok

Got find sound pack again though (duh...forgot to save it).

Tks

Careful with some of the custom sound packs.  If you are using an onboard sound chip, you could experience problems, such as game crashes.

CC Skuz.  Was using Mitu's sound pack when having problem.  Reloaded same.  As for the sound card, I couldn't begin to tell ya what's in this box.  Moil custom built it from the ground up specifically for gaming (what I know about puters would scare ya lol).

Everything worked pretty good last night.  Had a little problem with FR's when zoomed in all the way, but I think it was due to "Ping" level.  When logging on ping was showing average "600".  Now mind you, I have no idea what "ping" is.  As far as I'm concerned Ping is 1/2 of another game ......"Pong"  (ping pong), consists of 2 paddles, 1 little ball, and a table with a net across it lol.  The couple of discoes I got last night, in my unqualified opinion, was due to high ping numbers.

Ping is the time in mili-seconds(1/1000th) it takes info to go to its destination and back(I think). I am on a local dial-up ISP. Local call to the ISP server and then to fiber. Goes to ATL,GA and then to (is it?) Omaha where it gets headed to where its going. 188-200 mSeconds to HTC. $21 a month.

I used to use an AOL partner($10 a month) and had to call local long distance to the next town over(had a calling plan). Then to ATL, Omaha, Long Island NY, through several routers within AOL, back to Omaha, then for some reason it may go to San Diago or Chicaco, then back to Omaha before it headed in the right direction(TX). 650 to 800 mSeconds or maybe not at all.

600 mili-seconds is playable. Have heard of players that do well with less. Mostly from across the Pond.

But at more than half a second plus some time to proccess and reaction time on your part, it may give a bogie the time he needs to slip from your sights.

Couldn't tell you what's good from Alaska, but you might want to explore your posibilities. I know the half second I cut from the loop helped me greatly.

Also, high ping in itself isnt necessarily a problem. Stability of the connect and no packet loss (information is "dropped" and disappears en route) is.

Id take a stable, no PL 600 ping connect over an unstable, 200 ms any time.
