Yeah, arenas are still broken. I had bunches and bunches of good fights for a long time, but when it got later last night, I couldn't find a fight unless I wanted to fly 50 or more miles to find 1 or 2 guys. Flying that far is one thing, but when I get there they are gone and I flew that far for nothing.

It seems to me that it is not how many people in the arena its self that is good or bad, it doesn't really matter. Trick is getting the right amount of people flying the right part of the map at the same time, so things are ballanced.

I don't know much about this game, but would somebody please tell me if any of these ideas would work. Somebody please comment, ty.

1) Have caps on the number of people that can take off from a particular base? Wouldn't this help solve the population problem?

2) If there are only a few people in an arena, have automatic shut down for some of the basses to concentrate things at other bases. Open more bases as more players enter the arena.

3) As it is now, the teams can't really get to each other all the time. For instance, the bish and the rooks may have a great fight going way far down south on the map, but no knight can get there unless they fly 200 miles. Why not have the map broken into maybe 4 quadrants with bases from all three teams in each quadrant. This would solve that problem.

This has been brought up before and it didn't fly ... most said that it would be too limiting.

My suggestion and what I do all the time ... I switch to a country that is involved in a fight. I have no allegiance to any country and if you do, then this will pose a problem.

You said you are new ... well there is a "Map Maker" program available ... you might want to take a stab at creating that kind of map and submitting it to HTC. They do take and encourage player made maps. Most maps that you fly on were made by players.

I was on from about 7PM CST until 1AMCST.  Lazer, Soulyss and I started out in Latewar2 and found nothing but fights the entire time.  About 11PMCST Shuffler and Treize showed up and couldn't get into Late2 so we all went to Midwar.  We brawled until 1AMCST in there non-stop.

We did switch to the low numbers side, which might have helped too.

Maybe that's not late enough to see the impact but I flew longer and fought more consistantly and constantly last night then I had in a long time.  It was a blast :)

i was on last evening around 10pm est(maybe a little later),

it was
EW:38(or so)
MW had 80+
and the 2 LA: had over 200 each

sorry i didnt have the foresight to take screen shots

1) Yep, old fashioned "zone limits". The mission maker would need some retooling. But, the "O" weenies should love it...more "organization" for them to do. :)

2) My guess would be that something along this line is coming...in 2 weeks. :)

3) I KNOW there will be changes to deal with this issue. One will be terrains with better balance in field layout.

@ 10pm Central, Early War showed 68 on, Mid War about 105, Late 1 was at 200, Late 2 was around 200. Didn't take screenshots either, was too busy with my DSL randomly disco'ing. :(

Yep those numbers look right to me as well.  We went to Midwar shortly after that.

US prime time isnt the ONLY time this game runs

So best thing to do is at a certain point, based on numbers, send them all to one arena?  I suppose that makes some sense.  So force em all into Midwar :)

yes totaly agree.


i think the changes are GREAT, for prime time as it evens out the playing fields, and keeps one arena out growing the others. all arenas should be setup this way, to avoid the problem in a few months when the caps need to change on the MW arena.

However this change (well the first change last month) is absolutely terrible for offpeak hours.

I disagree Overlag. I've been getting on between 4am and 5am Est time and signing off at 5:30am to go to work. Sure there's very few on at that time compared to peek times, but yet I still manage to find some very good fights rather quickly. Ofcourse some times I have to change countries to find the action, but the action is there.

As near as I can tell I am completely clueless about all that's wrong with Aces High as I keep having fun.

Someday I'll figure it out and get miserable.  But until then I'm not quitting! :)

honestly i don't know how you guys keep crying about not finding any fights i have no problem finding a good fight.Or is your idea of a good fight vulching and cherry picking?

follow me around in the MA and we will find plenty of fights.

what time do you play?

play between 12 and 6pm BST and you will see what the "problem" is.

I am just wondering... how does it help the people who cannot find the fights in their timezones or cannot enter "full" arenas to tell them that YOU can always find fight and are always having fun?
Good for you, I wish we all had such luck, but your luck does not help those who do not have what you have!

Guppy, this has little to do with changing sides.

There IS a problem finding fights during Euro times. Some days i get lucky and manage to pick a fight that lasts for a bit. Most days I dont - then i have the choice of milkrunnin or logging. Will probably be found in TA then.

the new cap may be great at peak times, but here's no "war" to join offpeak. hardly to play any mission, and if yet it becomes a milkrun...

i would advice against this cap at offpeak.

doh, you beat me too it.... (or, the LW's to have a starting cap of 60, that way we would have two arenas with 60ish people which wouldnt be so bad.)

I truly wish there was some "carrot approach" to divide players to more than one arena (when/since that is required).
The current "stick approach" may cause more log-offs than build-up for the emptier arenas :(

the way i read it was that when one arena was appraoching full capacity the cap limit on it went up or it places you in the other arena automatically.I can see somewhat why no one can find a fight because to get some of these AH players to fight now a days you have to turn around and show them your 6 before they will get the courage to fight.Now i am not saying that this person is you overlag, but i just don't see how you can't find any fights when the rest of us are having no problems time zones or not.Sometimes the fight will find you.

Personally i like the new arena set up compared to the old way.In the old MA there was to much LAG, to many LA and spit 16 dweebs everywhere, nothing but cherry pickers and vulchers.Now just about all of that is gone and the fun that i enjoyed before the AH commercials came out  is back.

I do not see any way that HT can make,anyone happy here as things are. The only way to balance sides and arenas is to assgin everyone to a arena and side when they log on. I don't like doing it like that but only fair way, Yes, squads would be a thing of the past but how else to do it, mite not get to fly with your friends due to the luck of the draw. Of course would not have to worry about it for long because AH would not last long.

MW arena's numbers were up  a few nights this week because i brought a mega squad into that arena so that we could fly together. thats the only reason its numbers were up on certain nights.so that we could fly together and to be truthfull thats the only reason we went there. on those nights, the knight side severly out numbered the other country's. the whole thing was kinda boring. but with the new changes. looks like every one will either have to addapt or make other changes.

If you think sides are unbalanced NOW, youll be surprised. Two sides wont work in MAs.
