Title: HiTech
Post by: Stang on October 20, 2006, 06:45:53 PM
Would it be possible to add a roster function to the Clipboard when you log in and are in the arena choice interface?  It would be really neat if you could perhaps right click on an arena and select the roster to see who all is in a certain arena before logging into it.

I think it would be much easier than logging into an arena and then having to hunt other players down.

It's not hard finding squadmates now (unless you're in one of those 4 squad that fly together types), but for finding random friends in other squads or guys not in squads at all, it is a bit more time consuming.

Just a though that might help.

Thanks.

I am teh dum   at this    but I think for it to check the roster, it would have to log in, which is what you are going to do anyway!  Now, once your in, if HT could add a little "Roster search engine" (it would have to open a seperate window to look, roster window), then you could Immediately window out into the roster window of lets say MW,   as it stayed open, you could search EW, and it would be a third window, and you could see who was on.  The problem would be how much would it affect the performance of the game in the arena which you are going to play!  If it could be done where no performance changes or security problems would occur, then I think we would have something that would benefit all who play this game!  But then again, I R teh DUM!:aok
But I think that Right clicking on an arena before you enter and pulling up its roster will do just fine!:aok

I am appalled by your lack of empathy towards the cultural differences between those of us who have the balls to admit they are unknowledgable (if you google this last word it is an early sign of anal retentiveness)  about how these things work and those who do.:aok

After login I receive real time ping values to/from the server. Would it really be that much harder or taxing on the server to get real time roster values ( say hit the server every 3000-8000 ms ) and add an additional window form textbox that updates automagically when I click on an arena?

Isn't an arena already selected by default when I login? Then the window form textbox could populate with the default arena's roster.

It would be a nice feature addition to an already kick bellybutton game.

Something like this would be great... if the system allows it and would not create lag/warps to servers.

- All squadmates would be automatically on the list.
- Other friends could be added to or removed from the "friends list" with right-clicking on normal roster lists (something like with hangar plane lists)

"No updates in the next four weeks" - doesnt sound like a "not anytime soon" to me.

Isn't there a performance issue already if everyone has to first log into an arena and do .f playername  commands to located friends/squads, then log out of the arena you are in and log into the arena that your friends are in?

for that matter, once you locate your friends, is it even possible to login to the same arean they are all in if that arena is over the CAP?

anyone?

Have to give my :aok on this idea.  It really would be a nice feature to be able to find your squaddies & buddies (& targets) before jumping into an arena.  Given the amount of jumping around that people are doing in the LW arenas right now, it doesn't seem that much to ask.

I already suggested a similar option.  I asked that a tab on the HTC website show the current rosters for each arena so that we could then select the arena we wanted to fly based on friends, squadies, enemies, etc.

HiTech responded, "it is feasible, but we have other priorities right now."
