I remember reading awhile back about Aces High doing their advertisement on the History channel. How come you guys wont target a younger audience and advertise on G4TV instead? Also I believe it would be smarter to have your game advertise on more of a public channel such as fox or cbs or usa network. Does advertising on public channels such as the ones i listed above cost much more money than the history channel?
-
What the heck is G4TV?
And does that answer part of your question?
-
do you really really REALLY REALLY want a younger base?
-
I hate to say this but in the businessworld the only thing that counts is the green. And if bringing in more customers even though they are young means a bigger profit, than i'm sure that HTC would do. Its fun for us but for HTC its business. You got to do whatever it takes to bring in more money legally. That's their goal.

I've seen teh commecial on the Military Chanel

I dont know about you all but I love this game and I want this game to be around for a long time. I dont think having a small cult like community would keep this game running. Its nice and all but we need more ppl.
-
The best audience is the the older guys. They are either happily married and use this as a hobby, or lonely and miserable and use it as an escape. Kids hopefully will grow up and get on with their young lives and forget about it.

The game is doin just fine. :)
The History Channel folks are more likely to subscribe for an extended period than the G4 crowd. It too bad the G4 wanks took over TechTV from Ziff-Davis. Now it's all aimed at the pimply faced juvies still waiting for their 'nads to drop.

I'd say the most reliable age range would be 30's-40's.....Aces High needs people financially secure, that can pay $15 bucks a month without thinking about it....Not some kid using mommys credit card
and I can gurantee you, that you will never see a commercial for AH on Fox, or CBS...It's just not the target audience...History and Military channel are perfect. Now the times...not so perfect, but if they ever start airing before 3am, they may just pick up some new folks lol

We hear way to much squeaking as it is on this game
How do I start my plane
How do I drive my plane
I have missle tone
How do I shift gears
Help mayday im going down
reupping
where are the badguys
do I have to fly do a different field to take off from it
how do I type to country(dont ask)
Do i need a mic to voice communicate(dont ask)
Ill kill you with my 45
hey im ranked 4830 im l33t

The young group is also the ones who do not stay around for long. takes to long to learn the game for them. Want to jump in and kill people right away with out learning how to play first. This is no saying all are like that, we have some good kids on here when you get the Mic away from them.

I do not mind the suggestion. But belive please belive that we know our market.
Cav we always run adds during prime time also.

The only place I have seen the commercials is on the Military CH, formally Discovery Wings. I do not recall seeing the commercial on any History CH, but I could be wrong. I do agree that the military ch is probably the best demographic audience to recruit players from, however not everyone is able to get that ch, either by cable companys (like my crappy one) or by the specific package from satellite provider.
The newest commercial (as stated before) is an improvement upon the first IMO. Still alot more can be done with it. Stay after it boys.

helbent: We also ran some test adds on the history channel to see what the response rate would be.
We also ran some adds in england to find out what the response rate would be.

Do you remember the effect??? just wondering.

Yes I rember viper; But please understand, I paid a fair amount for a test run to get the response rate information. I realy do not care to give that knowledge out for free.
-
G4TV you will get people thinking of it as a shoot em up Doom or Counter-Strike type game. Purely my own opinion, they will try their 2 weeks and leave. When I think G4 I don't think of someone willing to take time to learn the ins and outs of a game.

It's all about niche marketing kids. As a guy who owns a production company I do more 30 second spots than you can shake a tail less P38 at. Right now it's plenty of ole fashioned mud slinging political spots as it ti's the season here in the states.
HiTech is right on track with running the spots on History Channel and Military Channel. The target market for their product is sitting there with their eyes glued to the set. And I will guarantee you that the cost per spot on those cable networks is less than hitting the major US networks, even if you don't have a wiz kid Media Buyer.
So in short, you're hitting more eyeball of your target market on cable than you would on network...and it's cheaper.

Just wondering if im allowed to ask what sort of a response rate you have gotten from us brits?
I think its a great idea to advertise in england too i think there would be quite a few budding pilots who would fly if they knew the game existed.
Still havnt seen the advert yet i watch history channel quite often but still no sign what time about is it usually shown?

never saw anything.... what channel?
-
Hitech...Have you ever heard of the college networking site called "Facebook" (http://www.thefacebook.com)? They are now selling space for ad's....Wouldnt be a bad idea to look into?
-
Well what I was implicating is that if I was running hitech I would be thinking about the future. And yes although the older player base is the main focus of customers I would still try to bring in more younger adult players because in reality, older players wont be around for long.
-
uh oh that didnt come out correctly.. disregard that post folks
