A few more great wall pictures. Forgive the image quality, the day was very hazy and I accidentally had the camera set to ISO 1600 for most of my shots this day. The camera did a great job compensating for my error but as a result I had to process every photo to help reduce the haze.
My wife Betty is visible in the first two, wearing a light pink shirt. She is clearly visible in the full size original photos, but not so much in these resized ones.
The original photos are here if you want to see the full size originals: http://www.flickr.com/photos/seanlong/

Dude they are still beautiful pix....... i wonder how many people have ever walked the whole great wall.......................

Thanks for the nice comment on the pictures. I have to fiddle with every picture to make them look right, and after a few pics it's tough to tell if I'm over-doing it.
The whole great wall is well over 1000 miles and many parts are not open to the general public, so I doubt many (if any at all) people still living have ever walked the entire wall.
That said, I met an Israeli couple walking on this section and they had a little book with them that apparently detailed the ENTIRE wall mile by mile, complete with diagrams, photos, and little historical snippets. They climbed the section I was on and referenced their exact location in the book.

Thanks for posting them. Brings back my own memories of being there.
I wonder if you had the same simple thought I had when I was standing on it?
"I can't believe that I'm standing on the Great Wall of China."
The Wall and the Forbidden City seemed very tranquil to me. Wandering around the forbidden City, I thought of how amazing the Chinese culture was 500 years ago. Not quite so good today.

the forbidden city.
big one on the list.
huge.

I'll get the forbidden city pics up eventually :) I just started with the Great Wall because it was so cool.

Nice pics.
I can't help think of the comedy routine in which "Bush" tells the president of China, "Mr. president, tear down this wall". :)
-
our wall of mexico should be better than that or the chinese will make fun of us...the bush one should have been "Mr. president, unlock this door":rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :O
