Title: Connecticut Senate Debate
Post by: cav58d on October 24, 2006, 02:28:54 PM
Did anyone see the Connecticut Senate Debate last night? (10/23)...The lack of respect shown by the anti war leftist while heckling throughout the debate, for not only an incumbant senator, but more importantly the people of Connecticut who want to hear the idea's of the three candidates was appauling.
All I have to say his I gained a lot of respect for Republican Candidate Alan Schlesenger when he stood up in the face of the joe lieberman heckling and said, "Give Senator Lieberman respect!  Leave this audience now!  Enough!", and the entire crowd burst into cheers....Way to go alan.

On the other hand, Ned Lamont just sat there idle, and didn't even attempt to silence his rude supporters....Didnt think it was possible to lose any more respect for this man, but it happened last night

Best line in the debate:

"In the spirit of Halloween, we have a U.S. senator here who's masquerading as a Republican," said Schlesinger, the former mayor of Derby.

I haven't heard that any Dems or the DNC are giving money and support to Schlesinger, hell, the RNC isn't either,  but Joe has the RNC pumping lots of cash into his campaign. So this statement is more truth than rhetoric.

More truth then rhetoric?  Lieberman has voted democratic.  It's just that the republicans in that district have conceded they have no way of winning, especially with Lieberman winning the moderate vote.  So they concede and would rather have lieberman then some communist.

The quote was something like, we have a Greenwich millionarie pretending to be a democrat, a major party candidate who is being completely ignored by not only opposition, but his own party, and the halloween comment....

I think the party really screwed the pooch here...Last US Senate election in Connecticut the Republican pulled in 36% of the vote....Three way race, thats right up there for a win!  Unfortunately schlessinger screwed himself in handling the gambling issue...All he had to do was admit to it and say that was a different time in my life that I am not proud of, and I am not that person anymore.........

I will be voting for Mr. Schlesinger.  I have met him numerous times, and he is a cocky, arrogant goon, but he best reflects my views.  Certainly more so then Senator Lieberman and Ned Lamont
