Does anyone have any experience with the customs and border patrol agency? In particular, the life of a BP Agent? I have always been very intersted in the career, and what an agents life is like? (salary, living conditions, opportunity for employment advancement ect...)
2nd- does anyone know where CBP hires their pilots?
-
anyone?
-
they're jerks in Ft Lauderdale.
I'm sure they have a website with career info.
-
Oh they do...I'm just interested in hearing the un-bias first hand version =)

Border Patrol Agent sounds like a great job nothing like ruining someones hopes and dreams of a nice life in the United States:D

As of now I am hoping to lead a career of military service, but in the unlikely event that isn't possible, I would definately entertain the thought of CBP. As you may have seen in the immigration thread, this is my most passionate issue, and I look at border patrol agent's in the same light as I look at our military. I'm sure someone will give me flack for saying that but it's true. These guys are operating primarily at night combating armed drug and arms dealers, and ofcourse, at times, against some of the most desperate humans on earth trying to cross in the United States...
If anyone has any experience with this agency, or know's a contact I can speak with I would really appreciate it
thanks

deleted it and rephrased it into a friendly fashion as to not offend any of the members of this board

We definitely need better border security. Just ask a Native American what happens when you let in everyone who shows up at the shore.

Please dont hijack a serious thread...If you can provide information to a legitimate question than please do, if not- with all due respect, stay out please

That's at least two threads where you have expressed interest in working for the government. Are you some sort of commie that you want to force the taxpayers to pay for your livelyhood?

If that were the case he could just move to Canada.
Most of your federal jobs are real sweet deals, but hard to land. In this day of DHS and such, you better have a squeaky clean background.

Wow...
Just wow. Some of the replies on this thread really proves Einstein correct, only two things are infinite, the universe and mankind's stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe...
Cav, I applaud your decision to consider service to the country as one of our boarder protectors. What many people don't realize is the huge influx of drugs, illegal weapons/explosives and criminals from other countries that crosses our boarders on an hourly basis. It's not just poor, downtrodden masses seeking a better life here. The Irish, Germans and Italians did that fairly well over the past couple of centuries legally. Many times these days it's hardened criminals, drug runners and people catering to gang violence who cross the boarders illegally, taking advantage of our proximity to countries relatively unconcerned with contributing to a neighbor's safety for its citizens.
Government service in this area is growing pretty rapidly, with many possibilities for rapid advancement. The pay's not great, but the benefits for yourself, further education, and your family's care are nice. There's serious risks that come with the job; I hope you take that into consideration. Someone hauling a couple of kilo's of Columbia's finest won't hesitate to drop you and bury the body if they get the chance; many of the people I've known in law enforcement consider the career field you're looking at to be one of the most hazardous.
Try it! If nothing else, doing well there will certainly open doors for other careers in law enforcement.

Tell me about it, but government jobs shouldn't be "sweet deals". I have found that the government is a **** employer and that silly servents are, for the most part, **** employees. And as I live in Ottawa a crapload of my contemporaries work for or aspire to work for the government. It's pathetic.
Meanwhile taxpayers take it up the ass.
Edit: Hey cool, we can say "ass".

I think that remark is appauling. I'm not sure how things work in Canada, but here in the US, service to the state is something noble. Atleast to me. This country has provided me with everything I could ever dream of, and as an able, and capible body, it is my duty to give something in return. Like I said earlier, military aviation is my goal, but if I cannot meet that goal, then Border Patrol is something I look at very favorably. Hell, I'd do these jobs for mininum wage if I had to because I believe in their importance. And to answer your question, no. I am not a commie that wants to force taxpayers to pay for my living. I am a freedom loving, capitolist, with red, white and blue in my vein's who understands that freedom isn't free.

Cav, I'm certain that Thrawn was just doing a little chain pulling.
On a side note, there is nothing wrong with serving your country. I did for 13 years and still hold the Constitution in the highest of regards.....not so the Office of the President.
