I have a novel idea for you all. No, I'm not going to suggest just walking out without the teary "I'll miss you alllll!" post... well, OK, I am, but it's more than that. Want an idea that might make a difference, one that might just maybe, MAYBE influence something other than everyone's funny bones? Try this.
1) Get PO'ed at the situation and decide to quit.
2) Find other people who are feeling the same way. Preferably if you're in a squad , try to comvince as many people in that squad as possible to follow your lead. If you're a member of a "multi-squad" you might be able to gather quite a few people for this nefarious plan, this gotterdammerung of monolithic proportions...
3) Organize a last griefer/furball mission. Do what you enjoy most, whatever it is.
4) All quit on the same day, WITHOUT the "goodbye cruel, cruel world!" posts. Just leave! The posts are meant for one thing, and one thing alone: Attention. You want someone to say "Too bad, you were a class act" and give you the final to speed you on your way to whatever destiny awaits you.
Now the point of getting as many people together to quit as possible is to make an impact, however small, to the makers of the game. You're going to quit anyway; why not quit in one big mass of people. If you feel HT really did something wrong in their changes, get together with everyone else who feels that way and bug out. You're not really convincing anyone else to leave; if they do they would have without you anyway.
Who knows, a whole squad or two deletes their accounts, maybe Hitech will get the message.
Of course, because of their changes they've already replaced the number of those who've left and then some, so you better have a really big squad.
:rofl

arcade.. I really like that idea. I bet it would make us all feel really really bad and beg for them to come back and milkrun some of our fields again.
They would be dumb to not do this.... I am sure that it would teach us all a lesson.

i hope when lazs finally hangs up his joystick he does post it here...that way he can really appreciate how much he will be missed
:lol :lol :lol
btw i dont think goob, gatt and howtizer were milkrunning toolshedding types and they were the last 3 goodbye posts...
nor were they large squad guys...
so who is really being forced out with these changes?
BoPs had an awesome squad night in mw monday night (fielded 35+)...we have 10+ guys in multiple arenas each night so the fun is still there for us..sorry
nope the advantage of being large is there are always tons of guys on ch during primetime and now we can really influence a map:aok well done!
no...i think its the smaller squad guys who are flying alone and not being able to join up witht he handful that are on..i do think that is a shame:(
if you fly bish feel free to tune 182 fellahs...always got peeps working together there!

This is great news. See, it didn't hurt to wait things out.

falc.. I think that it is good that you are so good at singing your own praises... if you didn't.... Who would?
I think you may have a different view of your squad nite than the other people that were on that nite.... for most it was more old MA slum nite stuff. No good fites....
I do appreciate that you only screw up a couple of hours one nite a week..
If you say that it was a great nite and lots of fun then I guess that it proves that the toolshedders and furballers can never get along. what you enjoyed we didn't... what we enjoy.... you avoid.
I think that how it will all shake out is that your type of RR player will migrate to the LW arenas and the fighter types will be in early or mid.
Obviously you don't want any change and the wisdom of what HT did becomes more apparent the longer you exist.

lol lazs..your type is exactly the type that once you had to grab some alt and some buddies you ran from a fight...you wont work to create a fair fight..you want it served on a silver platter....you are hilarious.
mars fought alongside of us and seemed to have fun...isnt he a BK as well???
so again you interject yourself where you are not wanted or needed...
if hitech wanted squads in lw he would not have made the most recent changes...so look for us in a mw/ew near you!!! like i said we had fun...hope to have some more soon!!!:aok

The goodbye posts get old. These are the same people who a week later come back like nothing ever happened. No explanation... This is the internet suicide threat; when someone threatens suicide they rarely do it. They are just looking for attention.
When they post their "goodbye everyone" posts, guaranteed they log in every ten minutes afterward to see all the "oh no, don't go," posts. Instead they are usually (rightfully) given the "don't let the door hitcha" posts.
Seriously, you want to leave, I can see a post in the squad forum to your squad, but to post on the BBS about it? I don't know what BBS stands for, but I know what BS is...
There is not enough cheese on the internet to cover you all.

Question I'd like to field in this thread:
If a person no longer has an active account and is not involved in the community in the game, should they still have board access? If they're not logged into the game and participating, how constructive can their posts be?
On the other hand, there's much history and knowledge shared on the boards by people who have decided they like their friends here, but aren't that interested in flying WWII aircraft any longer. Or, perhaps they've decided to contribute by flying in the 8-person arenas and have a right to be here while they fly in player-designed arenas.
Thoughts, comments?

Allowing a recovering AH-aholic to continue on the boards is like.......having an AA member live above a saloon.
In both cases, the more exposure they get, the more likely they are to resume their habit!

HT puts up with a lot of crap that I wouldn't, were I in his position. However, the community is a very social animal, at times, and cutting people off blocks one more avenue for their return later. Probably not a good idea to limit access to active accounts.

That's what I was wondering here Sim. You have to admit, many of the people who have grown disatisfied and quit become trolls, and try to make others as tired of the game as they've become. Some of the lamest, most flammable posts lately are made by those who don't even play with us anymore!
I'm all for contribution and continuing membership within the community, but at what point does someones right to continue on here become a hazard to the enjoyment of others' gameplay?

I agree that line is always a tough call.

Most people, while quitting, still want to keep up with the game and eventually end up renewing their accounts. I had quit AH for 2 years and then chose to renew my account based on the development that had happened in between.

Were the developments things you gleamed from the boards, front page news on AH, or from other players?
Most of the people who cancel their accounts: are they doing it for financial reasons (I can't imagine that the price of a soda per day is a hardship), or are they doing it because they are disatisfied with the product or community?
If they bail because they don't like the game or the people in it, are they really that valuable of a resource to have here with us?
Maybe there should be a small notice when you stop paying for the support of the game:
Thank you for your participation in our simulation! Upon cancellation of your subscription, we invite you to continue to visit us and keep up on events! However, posting comments and initiating threads upon our boards is a privilege reserved for our subscribers, so that function will be disabled until such time as you deem it appropriate to renew your subscription. We hope to see you back in the skies soon!

Well I continued to frequent on this board as well as watermelon chat with ex squad members. Hadn't I done that, or been unable to do that I doubt I would have returned after my 2 year mandatory pause (wife threatened to divorce me) :D
The AAR posts sparked interest big enough to resub. IMO they're the best kind of marketing you can get even if they're spiced with plenty of imagination sometimes.

Ok.
I *have* been so financially squeezed that I could not allocate $15/mo to fly AH. (I just didn't want to spend the money when I could not spend the time to fly ..was goin thru college accelerated courses and it was demanding enough that AH would have interfered)
Now that I am 'out' and workin again, there are a lot of nights I just don't want to strap on a plane and go looking for trouble. I don't want the aggravation and prefer to relax an catch up on how Phan is doin, check out some of the crazy stuff in the O'club, comment on stuff that interests me, holy cow, 2 hours have gone by!
I just dont feel up to flyin every nite, every spare moment. My shooting suffers for it, my SA is moderately degraded, ..but .. when I do fly .. I enjoy it more. I fly when I am ready for the challenge, and feel like wadin into trouble.
