Title: Macro virus killer
Post by: Angus on October 25, 2006, 06:31:38 PM
Hello all.
I may have a macro virus on one of my computers.
The problem occurs with printing and editing. Started with all PDF's crashing, then Word goes funny (sometimes not able to save), and now Excel has a printing problem.
Tried to download and install F-Prot as well as Kaspersky (Those deal with macros) but neither would install due to some error.
(That one could however be related to me having used a trial version of another program which has the same engine)
Anyway was wondering if you know of some trial or online solution for macros. Don't feel like going shopping right now.

Install it in safe mode or, if you have dual boot, use other OS to scan.

I have dual boot actually. I run Win ME (yes!) on C then I have D and E where E contains winXP where the problem is.
So, youo recommend installing some virus software on C, then scan the D and E from there?

http://security.symantec.com is Symantec's equivalent online scanner.

If your XP is installed on an NTFS partition, you'll be outta luck, WinME can't read it.  If it's fat32, then sure, why not?

Just had one search, and it only found one silly dialup  shark.
Guess I'll have to buy F-Prot, - they deal with macros.

I got the bugger! It was some malicious spyware. Anyway, the program that fixed it is called "ScanSpyware", and I think it's freeware.
