Fail Safe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fail-Safe_(1964_film))
I just bought this movie from Half Price Books and I gotta say its pretty good:D :noid

It's an awesome movie. Walter Matthau gave one of his best performances in that film. The first time I saw Dr. Strangelove I thought it was a parody of Fail Safe, then I realised it came out first. It's also the only movie I know that features the B-58 Hustler.

Fail Safe is excellent. Especially since it is a live TV performance.
Edit: Oops, wrong movie. The 2000 TV adaptation is also excellent.

The Book was better.... (Grin)

Oh I know the B-47 wasnt in fail safe :p , When I posted the B-58 pics I saw my B-47 pics and had to post it. B-47 is a pretty airplane and one of my favorites along with B-58. I had models of both planes when I was kid. I think with airframe mods, engine upgrades both of these planes could have a lot longer useful service records, I think both were pretty much retired after about 10 years, yet the B-52 is continually upgraded and modified for the last 50 years ( i dont think any of the airframes are 50 years old but the basic design is 50 years old).
I think my dad told me one time that the B-58s problem was the combination of wing design and engines. If it lost an engine it had a tendancy to go into an unrecoverable flat spin.
Looking at my pics, I want to go on vacation again. I only got to spend about 2 hours at Pima, I need about two days :)
