Title: Euro-time players needed on Saturday

And now for something completely different...
Quote
Virtuaalilentäjät - Virtual Pilots ry, association of Finnish WW2 online simulator pilots, will participate again in the Finnish Aviation Museum's Aviation Hobby Days (Ilmailuharrastepäivät) -exhibition. The exhibition gathers annually several thousand people interested about aviation to the museum, from small shops bringing their catalogue for sale to aviators and families.
This weekend, Saturday 28th - Sunday 29th, Finnish Virtual Pilots Association (http://www.virtualpilots.fi/en/) will be demonstrating AHII-fights in the auditorium at the Finnish Aviation Museum (http://www.suomenilmailumuseo.fi/en/index.html)'s annual "Aviation Hobby Days". So it will be Summer 1944 at the Karelian Isthmus, Soviet Union have started their campaign [Stalin's Fourth] against Finland.

A note about the times: The exhibition starts on Saturday at 9am CET, we'll be giving the people a chance to try the game, at 11:30 am CET we'll be organizing some coordinated fights/flights. That's 5:30am EST so it's a bit early for the Americans. But I'd hope to see at least some European squads / players in there at the time. :)

So this will be happening in the Axis vs Allies arena, where we'll have Karelia with the classic FinRus setup.

And a link (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=190494) to the discussion in the AvA forum.

You can now proceed to read your scheduled arena change topics.

Sounds like a nice event Panzzer. I live in Holland so the time difference isn't reaslly a problem. I'll try to be there; except for pilots you need beef too. Be glad to help you out onthat one.

Here's the area we'll be starting the battles at (A73 - A56):

Should add to the immersion value of the visitors, seeing frantic air battles over the Castle of Viipuri. :)

The Karelia terrain can be downloaded from Hitechcreations.com - Downloads - Terrains - AHKarelia.exe (http://downloads.hitechcreations.com/AHKARELIA.EXE), that's a 26.4 MB download so I'd recommend to get the terrain before trying to come to the arena, if you haven't downloaded it earlier (last updated 3/29/2006).

Thanks, Spot1 and Duh.

Easy, Schatzi, sorry you'll miss it, you know it's going to be fun. ;)

Where are all the Brits and all the other Europeans? The Few, 71st Eagles? Could use some people in the arena to give a good impression of the game... and for fun fights. :aok

I seem to be talking to myself here. Oh well, just remembered something that needs to be brought up.

We'll have a projector and (possibly) audio via the auditorium's system, so with families and kids present, watch your language, please. Especially the Finns! Thank you. :)

I'll post on the 71 Squadron forums, let them know. Quite a few of us are American, though, so I think that counts us out. I might be able to get on at around 10 EST, but I don't know if you'll all still be flying 5 hours later. :)

I'd like to thank everyone who were in the arena today, we had some good fights. There were about 40 people watching the big IL-2 mission we did, had it on the auditorium screen with audio, and a second projector was showing the Finnish side activity. :) I think over a hundred people watched some of the action today, with 10 - 20 staying longer and asking questions about the game. Thank you, !

Well, I won't be there at the museum tomorrow, and I don't know if any of the AH players going there will be taking their computers... But sure, get to the arena and check the situation, I'm planning to do that too. :)
