Title: Film viewer problem
Post by: Metro on April 26, 2000, 12:16:00 AM
Hi,

The film viewer is dumping me back to the desktop. Dx7.0a installed, latest TNT drivers. Tried different video settings for both desktop and AH, reinstalled AH.

300 MHz Pentium-2
96 MB
440 FX motherboard
TNT graphics board
Monstersound

It will dump you if you try to view VERY old films.  (Like .40 vintage.)  Other than that I haven't had it happen to me.

Old films give me an 'invalid format' error. New films just dump me to the desktop.

Metro, will you email me the film you are trying to view?

One of the films I have been trying is from Lephturn: http://tuweb.ucis.dal.ca/~dconrad/ahf/annoying.ahf (http://tuweb.ucis.dal.ca/~dconrad/ahf/annoying.ahf)

I didn't experience a dump to desktop with that film, but it is incompatible with the current version of Aces High.

Can you point me to a film that is compatible with the latest AH release?

I seem to have that problem too, films I shot yesterday would sometimes open flawlessly and sometimes drop me back to the desktop. Running latest AH version but on Win2k..

I've had this happen too.  I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is how it goes:

1. Open a film
2. Fast forward it to the end
3. Try to open another film
4. Boom - CTD

I can't recall if this is exactly how it happens, but I will try to re-create it when I get home!

However, it seems to be happening when I try to open another film after <edit>fast forwarding</edit> the first to the end.

Viewing films recorded in different versions/terrains might have something to do with it.

Also, the film viewer doesn't show the terrain correctly.  Films that I took in the beta terrain now use the new terrain.  Its funny to see dogfights happen underground!    (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
