Title: Kill # 0
Post by: Iceman24 on October 30, 2006, 01:24:26 PM
Was wondering if this is a possible bug or glitch

Last night I was flying in the MW arena and recieved a message, "you shot down (dont remember players name) kill # 0     how the heck can I get a kill #0 lol. Never had this happen before, I have a screenshot of this on my home computer if nobody has seen this happen before. Thanks in advance

:lol

...just a wild wild guess.
What would happen if 2 players cause exactly the same amount of damage to an enemy who is killed? Both get a kill? Both get an assist? Both get a kill message which would not get counted as a kill.... resulting as kill #0 if you have no previous kills from that flight?  :)

I didn't have any other kills that flight.... so mayyybe it's possible Blauk, your guess is as good as mine lol

I landed it and didn't get any perk's at all, not even a hundredth of a point, so it was obviously something goofy like that...weird lol

I'm going to chime in and point out that I just got four kills and I only receieved a kill message on one of them. One was a plane whos' wing I took, so I left it to fall. Someone could have swooped up that kill from me.

I need to start using the gun camera and record these things.

A week ago, I got an assist on a player who wasn't even in the area, the plane I shot down was the only thing in the air with me. The player who got the kill was just shot down by someone who, again, wasn't even in the area. I know this because the player that I got the assist on HO'ed me not even 3 minutes later, which turned into an arguement and he pointed out that he wasn't even in the area I was in at the time. He was CAP'ing a field that I was on my way to defend.

I NEVER[/i] get points when I use a fixed position gun. I'll get kills and do damage, but never points.

I just looked at my score and I have a zero. Cool. I've flown for four hours. have 15 kills and 26 deaths out of 45 sorties and I have the lowest score...;) Someone will fix that, I'm sure. Can't go around letting us noobs have the lowest score.

It's a glitch that happens on rare occasion, never have been able to figure out why.

You never get perks in gunner position - same as you dont get killed. It has always been like that. IIRC (not sure though) those kills dont even show up in the scores, as they cant be assigned to any of the categories... they only come up in the "killstats in expanded format".

As for being ranked 0 at beginning of tour, thats normal. Not sure if a minimum time in flight os required or a minimum of damage points or kills achieved for ranking to start....

HiTech, I have noticed that when there is a huge furball and you kill a plane, or should have killed a plane you don't get any message at all, it only seems to happen when there are massive amounts of players in a certain area... last night i counted 3 different times that I made an enemy go poof and didnt recieve any kinda message at all, and when i landed i got no perkies... happens very rarely but it seems to be getting worse IMO

On the kill #0 message.

Was looking at that bug the other day. Do you happen to remember how your previous sortie ended?

Hitech, if it ended the same way as mine, a ditch. I believe, or died I was near a CV and was attacking it.

Bingo. I ended up with a couple of "assists" in last nights furball. Just myself and a bishop or five. I was wondering if maybe someone got pings on those planes earlier and I finished the job later, which gave me the assists instead of the kills.....?

BTW, iceman, I saw you tearing them up last night in that furball over the bishops field. You would probably remember me as "Flacco", if you remember me at all. I was flying the pink spit IX, which used to be distictive enough, until I saw others flying it.

I used to get them all the time when AH2 first came out, i just thought it was an oddity and kept on flying.
