Title: Oldtimer needs help getting started!
Post by: Drache on October 30, 2006, 01:37:34 PM
Greets Everyone, I’m a brand new pilot to AH2, though I was a veteran from the old days of WarBirds 1.x, under the call sign Wyrm from JG27, someone might remember me :), the reason I write is to ask for a few of the essentials on getting started with AH, for example:

A good Gun sight Gallery, replacement sounds, some place to read on plane performance, and a good stick set-up guide, I have my trusty CH Flight Stick Pro with Pro Pedals and want to know if anyone with the same configuration has solid tweaking instructions.

Thank you in advance and hope to be back in the sky soon enough :)

Hi Drache,

A couple of good places to start are http://www.netaces.org and http://trainers.hitechcreations.com. There are also other links at http://www.hitechcreations.com

You may want to start off in the Training Arena since people there are more likely to have time to answer questions and you'll often find trainers there.

Edited for extraneous W's.

In regards to sound replacement, I would recommend Mitsu's sound pack which you can download from custom sounds in this forum.

To add to what FLS said, here (http://members.shaw.ca/soda_p/FM2.htm)  is a link to a page with evaluations of each plane that mixes some solid numbers (max speed, climb rate, etc.) with good practical advice about how to fly each one.

As for gun sights and sounds, check out the "Custom Sounds and Skins" forum further down. It has some stickied threads with links to some sound and gunsight packs.

And again, like FLS said, definitely head to the Training Arena first. There is usually a trainer in there, or at least someone who is willing to answer questions. Time in the TA will help your enjoyment of the game immensely.

Finally, welcome to AH! And have fun!:aok

For stick setup help, also check out http://www.netaces.org/joystick.pdf

http://www.slowcat.de for another soundpack (Sketchworks).
Look in the Custom Sounds and Skins forum for Frudas, USrangers, TwinBooms and Waffles sound packs.

Theres a historical gunsight pack from Waffle, I dont know if its linked somewhere.... if you cant find it, mail me to Schatzi @ flyaceshigh.com and ill send it your way.

Plane performance:

DokGonzos plane performance (http://gonzoville.com/ahcharts/index.php)
Sodasa Aircraft page (http://members.shaw.ca/soda_p/models.htm)

Also, when in game in HANGAR, you can right click any plane and get climb and speed charts from the official performance data.
