Hello, I was hoping someone can help me with my connection problems, I’m warping all over the place and aside from making the game almost unplayable, its starting to upset other players and that one thing I cant stand.
My ping times are a solid 45-65, when on details I have no packets lost but the white line has lots of small spikes, like a heart rate scanner, when in flight I have no problems for several minutes and then I see planes all over the place especially up close, I don’t know how to fix this problem and would appreciate any help I can get.
My system is a Win XP, I have a Cable Modem with a wireless router and never run programs in the background, I don’t have any P2P programs and I’m 99% sure there are no malware or spyware on my system.
I don’t have any problems browsing the web or playing other online games it’s just AH that’s broken right now.
Thanks in advance for anything you can come up with.

Added some ping times see if it helps.

You will suffer some packet loss using a wireless router. It is the nature of the beast.
That aside, we need some details about your computer. You simply may be suffering some resource issues. Please post the information about your computer and video card from a DXDIAG output (Start->Run->DXDIAG).
Also, I need to know what you in-game video settings are (from the opening game screen, "Video Options").
Next, make sure you are at your desktop, with no programs running, and open up the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del). Select the "Processes" tab. Look at the totla number located in the lower left corner. A typical Windows XP installation will show between 19 and 21 processes total.
Next, look immediately to the right of the total processes and note your CPU percentage used. Watch this for a couple of minutes. It should bounce between 0 and 1 (maybe 2) percent, like a heartbeat. Anything higher means something is running in the background, which should not be running.
All the above should be enough information to help isolate what may be the issue.

Wow!!! I have a new computer just purchased from Dell. I just checked my processess (as stated above) and discovered that I have 50 processes running. I don't have the slightes idea what some of these processes are or which I should disable. My cpu usage is bouncing between 0 and 3.
My primary use of this computer is to play Aces High, send and receive e-mails and occasional surfing of the web (In that order). Has anyone published a listing of those processess running unnecessarily on a computer for the purpose of disabling them. Thanks.

Prebuild systems, expecially those that already have the OS system installed come with a load of (mostly unneccessary) extra "utilities" and processes. First thing i would do is check "My Computer - Software" and uninstall any program you do not need/use. Also make sure you clean out your "Autostart" folder in Start Menu.
Check out Skuzzys stickies in this forum for tips on what (and how) to safely shut down. Also, i recommend getting rid of any and all auto-updating functions, be it Windows, AV, or any other program.
Another useful tool to clean up your system is CrapCleaner (just google for it, its freeware).
If you do not know what a certain process does/is about, just do a google search for it.

Drache, this looks like a laptop. If so, you need to disable all the power management in it. That should help quell the warping.
The packet loss is going to be a problem with a wireless connection. However, you can help reduce the amount of loss by adjusting the speed of the wireless connection down.
How this is accomplished depends on the wireless router you are using, but most allow the local WAN (why does that sound like a misnomer?) speeds to be adjusted.
-
Wizer, that is not as bad an most HP/Compaq boxes. I have heard from several players who bought them they have 64, or so, processes running in the background with them.
Unfortunately, you have to be pretty careful when shutting down processes. Some OEM's install software which must run in order for the computer to even boot. So you cannot go simply by a default list.

Thanks Skuzzy, I think that I will leave system alone :D

Thank you Skuzzy, I've been trying all kinds of things now and apparently, the position of the router in regards to my laptop is what causes the most problems, I moved closer to the modem and it improved to some degree, I will try what you suggested about lowering the connection speed and hope for the best.
Thanks for everything I’ll keep you posted if things improve.
