:( Hey can anyone out there help me with buying a good headset for the game? Mine just :cry broke and I am looking for a good one this time. Preferably a straight up USB plug in, so I don't have to mess with all the connectors plug and unplugging. Not looking to spend $millions$ either. My kids use them sometimes :huh and that's how they usually break. I do like the Ltb models with the removable mics. But i'm not too familiar with any other brands.
I'm going crazy without a headset  . My wife watches as I talk to my computer screen. Everytime I turn around this is what I see :huh :rofl . And I just get frustrated :furious when I cant tell someone i diving on them.
OK I GO NOW!
:aok

I've never gone wrong with Plantronics (http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/gaming/products/pro1/index.jhtml).
The pro model is USB. I used a set of the Counter-Strike edition DSP 500s for quite some time (was broken @ a LAN party). Definately need a new set here :(

If your willing to pay, I use these myself. Sennheiser makes some great headsets, but they are spendy. I spent $139.00 for mine (PC155USB), but I sure do love the quality and they are very comfortable. 3D sounds helps alot when your in a GV.

Don't know what your budget is, but for $30, I've been absolutely thrilled with this Plantronics set. They also have a couple of USB sets; I know Newegg had them pretty cheap a few months ago when I was looking.

I use a logitech USB headset and it works just fine. It's $40 on logitech's website so you'll probably get it for less on Amazon or Newegg.

I just purchased a sennheiser from newEgg for $75.00 ... it will support both USB or the older twin plug setup ... great headset and does 3D sounds.

Try here (http://www.flyaas.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_ADAPTER_CORDS_21.html)
I know a bunch of companies make them, they just happened to be the first link I found on google. I'm pretty sure there's also a good selection @ Aircraft Spruce.

I've had many headsets and none held up very long, especially the USB variety.
Then I ran across a post in these boards about a cheap RadioShack headset and though skeptical, I bought one and it's been working great for over a year and no problems with the mic either. The model doesn't seem to matter so long as you find it comfortable.

moneyguy have one setting on my desk that I would sell you.

I really like the Koss CS-100. It's very low cost ($18), but the sound is very good, and the mic is great. It's not USB, though.

Going cheap is cool if it works.
But if you want "kickass" that works with an xbox, Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA surround sound headphones $99.00
http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/earforce/hpa/producthome.asp
Or, for less than $15 bucks...

Best headset I have ever used. It has traveled all over the world with me on planes and hotels and plugged into my mp3 player, PSP, laptop, home PC....well you get the picture.
SENNHEISER PC155USB. You can unplug the little USB sound card option and use the old standard two plugs for headset and microphone. The only thing about the microphone is the boom mic is a little short and you have to talk louder or pull it closer to your mouth when you are trying to not wake the wife in the next room (glass doors between PC area and bedroom).

Well, I know you already bought something, but I have the analog (soundcard) version of the Medusa 5.1 surround headphones:
http://www.medusa-usa.com/product_info.php?products_id=777
I've been using them for a year, and can attest that they are quite incredible. The surround effect is very noticable, but not entirely useful, in Aces High. For first-person shooters like Counter Strike, it is totally unbelievable and quite a tactical advantage.
When you combine it with a TrackIR, then AH does take on a whole new level: as you turn your head to look around, your engine noise moves around too. When you look backwards, your engine noises seem to be coming from behind.
The effect is slightly useful for locating GVs when their engines are running, but for normal flight, it isn't terribly useful. Cool, yes. Useful, not totally.
