I usually avoid political threads or news, but is any one else annoyed about how anal this country can be? I'm also surprised about myself agreeing with donald on this one.....
U.S. Flag (http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/11/01/trump.flag.ap/index.html)

Wow...I agree with Trump for once! Good for him, and I hope he fights for what he believes in...Either way, the fine is $250 a day...He's got enough money to pay five lifetimes that amount of penalty lol
-
You know, i always wondered what would happen if someone just didn't do what town ordinances said.
You know, tell them to go **** themselves and then just not pay.
-
:aok right on Donald. I feel icky now, but he's right.
"You don't need a permit to put up the American flag," Trump said Tuesday. "The day you need a permit to put up the American flag, that will be a sad day for this country."
The really sad part is thats happening in a lot of places.
-
Yea that also gets me. Stupid town ordinances. For example, near my town in burbank, it's illegal to have a chain link fence. And north of here in palmdale (or lancaster, not sure, it may even be valencia) it's illegal to have a sattelite dish on your roof.
duh.

"anyone who objects should not, in my opinion, hold a public office of any kind -- at least not in this country."
:)
-
i'm the donald, i'm very rich and important, i can do anything i want.
-
We had a situation just like that up here a couple of years ago, flag too large.
The fine was something like $25-$50 a day and the car dealer said no problem I can afford that, so the city counsel changed the ordnance to $5,000.00 a day fine and 90 days in jail.
Lesson...you cant fight city hall.

Well, I'd have to look at the ordinance, but from the article it seems that there is, indeed, nothing wrong with flying an American flag, but the whole problem is he wants one twice as large as the ordinance allows.
Which is really a stupid thing to complain about, but there are stupid ordinances all over the place.

this has nothing to do with the flag, this has to do with "the donald", if he were a ordinary multi millionaire he would have gone to council and thrown around a few million dollars and got a variance from 42ft to 80ft like they all do, but he is "the donald" and he wants to stick his 80 ft pole in their face.
i have seen the same thing when developers try to build the tallest building in town, they know what the code is but they will draw plans that exceed the code then ask(demand) variance so they can build the tallest building in town.
(tall building/flag pole=phallic symbol)

Donald Trump or not I'd be one to chip in a few bucks toward the fine to keep the flag flying.
Too bad Joe Schmoe wouldn't have made the news.
-
but Joe Schmoe did make the news, what was that article a few weeks ago about the lady that was in trouble with her Homeowners association because she had a Flag on her house? and the business that told its employees they couldnt display flags or something like that at their desks?
and Yes he's The Donald, and yes hes rich and yes he can probably do what ever he wants but in this case I agree with him. Unless a 80Ft tall flagpole and what ever huge flag he wants to fly is a threat to someones safety or a danger to the public then it should be no bodies business but his. If I was him I'd get a 120 foot pole and a flag twice that size and set it up. You want to complain, I'll give you something to complain about.
-
He should mount a 42 foot pole on top of that tower in the background.
-
Right on Don! Seems strage saying that, but he's 100% right on this one. The US Flag and appropriate state flag should be exempt from any local zoning or ordinance.
-
Any flag should be exempt.
-
So if John Kerry hoisted a 80 foot Iranian flag over the Hienz estate....that'd be cool?
-
I'm sure his spread has plenty of space for an 80 foot flag.
-
You go Donald!
When I was still on the Dept. riding motorcycles I was told I couldn't have the flag on my uniform (small pin above my name tag) or one on the motorcycle (small 4"x6" on the radio antenna).
The next week everyone of us had the flag pin on our uniform shirts and an antenna flag on our bikes.
