Title: Weather?
Post by: RATTFINK on November 02, 2006, 01:01:53 PM
I'm sure this has been brought up once or twice but I was in the Special Events Arena last night and did the "Snap Shot" deal and noticed Snow, thick clouds, and the ocean even had ripples.  I just thought this was cool and would like to see more of this kind of terrain in the MA's.

It is getting to boring upping on a bright sunny day with no weather related challenges.  Not every day during WWII was blue skies, green grass, & sunny!!!

What do you guys think?

Try Microsoft Flight Simulator X, I hear it has all kinds of weather options.

p.s. Why would you want bad weather?   Do people who play racing games ask for lightining and thunderstorms during the races?  Is that like having a sexual fantasy but including fat ugly chicks, just for variety?

Ratt weather would be a nice touch.... however it is a large hit on the frame rate..... so many would be grounded in such an event.

:aok

:noid Weather?  I love having weather, it makes for a extra challange in the game.  Ever try landing in rain or some ground fog.

Damn, the rendering of the clouds is bad enough on my frame rate, let alone rain and snow!:huh

It would kill Frame rates.

To simulate weather:
Yank internet cable connection while playing.
Result:
Throws plane around like it is caught in the worst turbulance ever:noid

ya weather would be sweet, i know some systems would suffer frame rate loss and such.  maybe toggle on/off would make it work, dunno.

Your right, I had to really hunt through all my junk to find it.  It matches my flying skills.

landing in bad weather once we had 700ft of clearance between the runway and a  2 mile high, 100mile wide overcast. scared the crap out of me as the landing strip was another 200ft above the surrounding landscape and this little c152 was bumping all over the place. strangely enough, the water logged runway provided more grip than a dry one, and the landing was easy as pie....... for my instructor, god bless him :D

I think weather would be AWESOME. I wonder what it would be like to land on a carrier during a sea storm, hmmmmmmm.

And to the above post, you guys are actually pilots? Im only 15 but Im joining the Marines after college and Im gonna fly KC-130s for them :D  Wanted to be a fighter pilot but Im too tall, as well as too big (270 LBS, but Ill get skinnier, or loose weight, its more like my body structure is BIG).

I am not a pilot, just a want-a-be.  I am a WWII aircraft nut though.  Aces High at one time had heavy clouds with limited visibelity.  It made for some good hide and seek.
Have you guys seen the vidio clip of the carrier launch of a twin engined prop job just as the carrier dipped into a large wave that came up over the flight deck?  The plane dissapeared into the spray off the end of the deck.  I thought for sure that they had bought it.  On a version of the vidio clip that shows the rest of the story the aircraft continued flying and pulled out of the mess.  Of course the seats had to be replaced after the plane had returned to the carrier.

270lbs at 15?  you've got a career as an offensive lineman in the NFL.  I'll expect a percentage as your career advisor!

I don't think any real pilots play AH.

Many many moons ago HT logged on one Saturday and turned on fog in the old MA.
Was frickin awesome, and MOST reported an increase in framerates, not a drop.
It did annoy the cherry pickers though.

Okay we've got HT.  You have to be rich to be a pilot anyways so I will say well done to HiTech for reaching the american dream and building your own destiny.

He doesn't really count because he's in the ruling class of AH and not a ghetto resident in the sea of addicted crack hounds:)
