Gents
I've installed the full CH product line(stick/throttle/pedals)
I've calibrated them in windows and in AH
Slowly assigning them(buttons) new functions....
All is working fine and responding BUT when I'm flying, I'm kinda fighting to keep the plane straight and level. When I release the stick, she slowly starts to bank then roll and eventually loosing alt.
I'm aware of the TRIM tabs/wheels on the base of the stick....
Is it possible that my trim for my pedals is out to lunch ?
When taking off, yes I use them due to the prop torqu etc....
Its as if I'm flying in gusty winds ! LOL !!!
Can't engage/fight properly since I'm loosing some concentration keep the plane where I want it to go....
Is it because of the "DEAD" bands. Are my aparatus "spiking" ?
Input anyone ?

As aircraft speed up and slow down they come out of trim, and you have to constantly re-adjust - this is normal. In AH2 we have CT which does the lion share of keeping your a/c in trim under 'normal' conditions.
Do you have CT turned off now?
Also the trim wheels on the CH stick are not so usefull in AH2 - your better off setting your trims to buttons on a hat controller or something like that.
If your spiking, you should be able to see it in the joystick setup bit in AH2 or in the calibration applet in windoze. Calib your stick then let it go and watch the cursor, if it wanders you know you have an issue, if not, then all is good. Move the stick slightly to one side and hold it steady off-center and watch the cursor. If it skips around a bit then you have spiking. If not all good.

Phil, those 2 trim-wheels are mechanically connected to the stick's pots: if you use them, they rotate the pots. Do not use the trim-wheels to trim your plane! Rotating the pots will result in your calibration getting off-center! Do not confuse trimming a physical axis on a controller with using the trim-flaps of an aircraft that are modelled in a simulation.

Phil, does the plane stay wings level with auto level trim (x) and auto angle trim (Shift-x) on? If so, it is not your controllers, it's the plane getting out of trim as speed and altitude change. You can offset this somewhat with Combat Trim (Ctrl-x), but it will limit your maneuverability at the edges of the envelope if you keep it on. About the only time I use Combat Trim is when dive bombing and if I'm bouncing someone from much higher. It beats fighting the stick trying to keep the pipper on the target.
If you want to manually trim the plane, assign hat positions to:
k - up elevator trim
i - down elevator trim
m - left aileron trim
, - right aileron trim
j - left rudder trim
l - right rudder trim ( that's a lower case L)

It's a guess for all of us.
I'd say the most likely cause is in your calibration. The trim wheels must be calibrated just like the stick and rudder, both in Windows and AH.

Again: the trim-wheels at the base of the Fighterstick (right and below of the stick) should remain centered at all times and not be twisted at all, else you mess up your stick's calibration for the x- and y-axis! The trim-wheels must not be calibrated - they cannot be calibrated because they are no axes but mechanical links to the x- and y-axis' pots!

Ah, that didn't register the first time DonULFonso. The trim wheels mechanically rotate the stick pots, got it.

SIDE NOTE * regarding the mechanical trim wheels on base: If you are flying around and lose your stick calibration, some times you can go to the trim wheels and adjust the axis to some degree to help keep u level flight, until you can get thru the screen options in game so you can recalibrate in flight and not auger trying to go through the motions of clicking thru the clipboard and flying at same time with a stick that has went haywire :aok

I hit the "x" key or turn on Combat Trim! Using the trim wheels is for the POTS within the stick and can create problems that IMHO are far worse then they fix!

yes sir, that works too even to a degree, not sure bout using CT , but X ( auto pilot level flight) and ALt X ( auto climb ) will help possibly if u lose stick calibration, but from my experience, when one loses stick calibration, it will not hold on any of the auto commands X, ALT X, Shift X none of them, so I find it easier to manually adjust the base TRIM Wheels to steady plane until I can get to the Calibration screen, once there and open it will hold the course you were on / at when you start the Calibration, so at this time one can go back and set each Trim Wheel on the base to the nuetral setting ( middle ).
I understand what you mean wrag, but if your stick loses calibration during flight, X will not hold because the axis have lost calibration. so they drift from center, this is why I find it easier to trim it back ( with the Hardwire / pots ) Base Trim wheels, then follow thru. I have augered numerous times in past where I was trying to get the calibration screen up to recal while at same time trying to steady the plane with an out of calibration stick........ The Trim Wheels works better in my experience........ X and auto X does not stay, it goes into auto but kicks right back out......

btw sometimes only the calibration is lost in the game and not windows, but it is a good idea to check both if you lose calibration in the game, after you are done with your sortie......now some will just auger or bail, but what if you are in a scenario ( think 1 life only event ) or have one of them great racked up scalps flight you are just dieing to land, anyhows, that is my theory of saving a flight when stick cal goes haywire.......

Guess I've been fortunate so far. Don't think I have lost calibration while in AH so far. I've had the controls get mushy though, or even a little strange. When I hit ct everything smooths right out. X and the other auto pilot controls work too.
Now, I have had the controls start going out in a manner LIKE you discribed. What I found worked great was to increase the deadband just a tad. Stopped the problem. If i'm getting allot of nose bounce I increase the damping just a tad. Took awhile to figure out but now my controls are pretty much set and rarely give me any trouble at all.

I also have total ch system (pedals stick and throttle). Just down loaded aces 11 and previously flew in air warrior.Can u send me data profiles you have set for this game. I am having a little problem and your setup may explain alot as to it being my rig or lack of understanding on my part. Thanks any advice will be helpful. ciao mikez
