Title: Getting DirectDraw error
Post by: Thorns on September 04, 2001, 11:34:00 PM
I'm getting the error -

Microsoft DirectDraw
"Beta DirectDraw Expired, Please update"

I click on the "ok" box and the game plays ok.

I'm using Win98, DirectX 8.1.

I have used a remover, and it worked(removing 8.1 ver).  I installed DX8.0a from MS website.  I get the same error when opening AH, or when I go to the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.  Any ideas??

Thanks,
Thorns

Isn't it because DirectX 8.1 is still just a BETA?!!! Im using it also, recieving same expiration error message but still Im able to play AH even with it....  :)

Yes Dx8.1 has basically expired.  Your only options are:  try and remove 8.1 with a program like dxbuster, or reformat...

You can also set your date to any before Sept. 1.

Thanks Guys...

I took a look around the Internet, and found the fix to the error message:
 http://www.electic.com/download/download.cgi?v=998701838 (http://www.electic.com/download/download.cgi?v=998701838)

Download and run...Seems to work great!
