President Bush is a liar for saying Sadaam Had WMD's right? So are these people liars too?????????
"Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people." -- Tom Daschle in 1998
"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." -- Nancy Pelosi, December 16, 1998
"(Saddam) will rebuild his arsenal of weapons of mass destruction and some day, some way, I am certain he will use that arsenal again, as he has 10 times since 1983" -- National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Feb 18, 1998
"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line."
- President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998
"We must stop Saddam from ever again jeopardizing the stability and security of his neighbors with weapons of mass destruction."
- Madeline Albright, Feb 1, 1998
So are they liars too?
-
its kinda water under the bridge now Cav, like alllegations of Republican voter fraud
-
I have always beleived that the dems are hypocrites.
Its always struck me as odd that WMD to them seems to only mean nuclear weapons.
In the past saddam has used bialogical and chemical weapons. They even found some of his chemical stuff a while back but, the media down played it.
i remember back in the 90's saddam holding up detonators for nuclear weapons. nobody made a peep about them when the war was going on.
Maybe he didnt have a nuke but, he did have parts to build one (like detonators) and if he did build one and we didnt attack, Bush would have been blaster for not invading.
Damned if ya do, damned if ya dont.

No it's not bridge over the water...1/2 the freaking democrat candidates ran of bush being a "liar" in the 06 election...
so I ask again....Are those people mentioned above liars too?
-
no no cav, they were misunderstood, what they said back then is not what they meant to say when they say it now.
-
Cav.... They're all politicians...

Vud...Thats not answering the question...

It's one thing to call all politicians liars...It's another to single out Bush and call him the soul liar about WMD's...Its a much bigger scale were working on

Who called him the soul (sic) liar about WMD?

That is the perception here though, Thrawn, despite everything said by both sides prior to the war.

Vudak, I generally disagree with you on everything political. At last, my friend, we see eye to eye.
Yes, I am a gun toting, pickup driving, card carrying member of the Republican party. Thats why I think you're wrong on everything else! :aok

Yes.
Not because Iraq didn't have WMD, but because they're politicians. It goes with the job.
-
if clinton would have had the balls and did what Bush did instead of letting saddam pull the world around by its nose for 8 years, the media & the left would have hailed him as a hero ...
the dems were for the war before they were against it ...
hope they do not feel the same way about the war on terrorism, I don't think they do as I do not think they believe there is a war at all .....
they are all for pulling out of Iraq when just months ago they were yelling at bush for not going into lebanon with Israel ... of course they didnt mean that either as it was just a ploy for the jewish vote ..
yes most politicans lie, but some lie sometimes while others lie all the time .. we are in the hands of the "all the time" now ..

Some in this administration had this to say on Feb. 21 '01
We had a good discussion, the Foreign Minister and I and the President and I, had a good discussion about the nature of the sanctions -- the fact that the sanctions exist -- not for the purpose of hurting the Iraqi people, but for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction. We should constantly be reviewing our policies, constantly be looking at those sanctions to make sure that they are directed toward that purpose. That purpose is every bit as important now as it was ten years ago when we began it. And frankly they have worked. He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq...
So are they liars too?
What's so suprising, we all know that politicians lie, but a lie to support the run up to war is considered one of the most insidious types of lies by most civilized people.

You do realize I'm a member of the GOP too, right?
A rather liberal one, certainly (on some issues), but a member nonetheless.

The Dems pressed Clinton to go in too when he was in office.
He refused.
But a better questrion for this board may be this.
Now that the Dems have control over both houses.
They can no longer rest on attacking Bush on the war.
Now they must act.
Yet for all their arguing about the war.
None. Not one has put forth a comprehencive plan on what to do.
Just that is should be done differently.
Most Dems also state they are against putting any kind of Timeline on pulling out of Iraq.
That being the case. and it IS the case
Rest assured the troops wont be comming home or leaving Iraqany time soon
The way I see it. is for all their whining and complaining.
Much like Kerry "I have a plan" but never bothered to say what it was.
Well Now they have run their mouths long enough. Now is their big chance to put their money where their mouths are.
Put up or shut up so's to speak.
They have two years do make a difference. Anything short of that and all their whines and complaints may very well backfire Come next election.
So they cant afford to do nothing. Yet nobody seems to have anything even resembeling a plan as to exactly what to do.
Sorry but "We need to bring our troops home, or we need to redeploy outside of Iraq" Makes for a great soundbite. But it isnt a plan. Not in any kind of realistic sense of the word anyway
So. Does anyone know what their "plan" is?
-
why do they need a plan on Iraq? they got in without one ...
All they are going to do for the next two years is try to drag bush and the republicans through the mud so that they have a shot in 08 at the POTUS
look for inquiries, committees, special prosecutors, reversing whatever they can that bush has done to keep the country out of a depression ... nothing productive - nothing but a political jerry springer show - they don't have to as shown by tuesday night ...
-
^^^^^^^^^
productive?..... if you are expecting that you need a reality check.
I hope you dont think that all those evils you posted are only practiced by the dems.

Cause all they have done is whine about how we have to get out of Iraq.
Come election time and we're no closer to getting out then we are now.
People are going to wantot know why.
Particularly since now they are in a position to try to do somehting other then whine

Yeah sure, if Clinton got the US into the cluster**** that is Iraq you would be screaming for his head.

How many question marks should I use????
-
Face it cav, too many two faced hypocrites love the demos.
In their eyes:
If you are a Republican and make a mistake, you are a liar. If you are a Democrat and make a mistake, you are a hero who is trying too hard.
If you point out the differance, you are obviously a deranged lunatic incapable of intelligent thought (at least that is how the demo/libbies will describe you).
-
Naw Republicans never!!! make mistakes....only Democrats can do that :)

I think it's time we leave the neo-con supporters alone. I think it's starting to sink in that they are alone. Even the Republican conservatives have abandon them.
Heck even Rush is abandoning them.

Very typical, only can offer insults, never an original or even close to intelligent thought or remark.

Not really, they lie about everything... but in a politician way, most likely Bush et al just repeated the intelligence they liked, dismissing the rest.. is it a lie to conveniently omit exculpatory evidence? prosecutors do it everyday in court, take evidence they like and make it fit a story, pushing that other evidence off to the side.
This is where congress FAILED us, it was up to those bozos to look objectively at the presidents "case" for war and question everything before 1 US troop set foot anywhere... but they stumbled through in lock step like drunk clones and some of them are now trying to save political face by suddenly asking the tough questions they should asked years ago.
I think the big joke is that Saddam wanted everyone, esp Iran, to think he had "WMDs".. it gave him leverage, and we probably had had good info it was all bogus... but it didn't fit the agenda.

Politicians and psychopaths have one thing in common. No moral center. Yet, we lock up psychopaths and let politicians roam free. Scary.
The only real difference between the two is the politician is too afraid of being seen carrying a weapon (except for the VP, who gladly shoots his friend).
Vudak is right. They are all liars. It comes with the job category.
EDIT: MT, if they are talking, they are lieing. Hell, you can't trust thier hand gestures either.
EDIT: Suave, the number of question marks indictates the level of confusion about said question. The more you use, the less you know about what you are asking. That help?

You have lost me again... I feel like im in fog.

Lol.
So the number of question marks is representative of the gradient between not knowing the answer to the question and vehemently not knowing the answer.
I've allways thought that a question mark is like zero, no matter how many times it is multiplied it's still the same value.
-
There is one more stage. Not really wanting an answer.
It's one of those, "What the heck???????????????? Uh, nevermind." kind of things. Know what I mean?

I think the whole "all politicans are liars" reply is pretty weak...And if there are any investigations into whether Bush mislead the country for talking about Sadaam and WMD's, then I sure as hell hope that former President Clinton, his secretary of state, and some sitting US Senators are also looked into for misleading us....
and skuzzy- See rule # 2 =)
-
I think constant obsessing over past presidents and obsessive, humorless posting of someone's political opinions is pretty weak, too.
-
Its as legitimate as anything else posted in here Rolex...Two men, nearly identical rhetoric, yet only 1 is blamed? Is that right???

You guys are like seal pups in a NASCAR race - going 'round and 'round and 'round, bleating at each other the whole time.
No thanks. I'll resist. ;)

Rolex did you mean to post this reply in Nuke's song thread?

No offense, Cav, but... You would. You used to be college GOP president or whatnot... You're one of them - a politician.
Don't worry though, you still have time to turn it around :aok
